BUT, if Estrada were say, Estride, and White, but HAD THE EXACT SAME VIEWS, I think he would already have been confirmed.

I doubt that very much. And, the Democrats are surely racist, they think that just because someone is Black they are stupid and need government assistance. If a black breaks that mold, they are no longer really black. Ditto Hispanics.

If Estrada were white, we'd be fighting over a different candidate right now. Not that he isn't deserving, but I believe his race is part of the political calculation going on.

Looks like Marian Horn is going to pass w/100% Ayes. I'm betting not one Dem would vote against anyone put up right now. Heck, Pickering could probably have been confirmed.

Finally he got it that a cloture vote does not kill the nominations and the more you put the RATs on record of oppossing Estrada the better it is. Right now they don't want to force a cloture vote but they will sooner or later and keep doing it until the RATs cave.

I was trying to explain this very point to a few nervous conservative friends of mine. Although I love Rush and FoxNews, this misinformation reminds me of the first few minutes after the SCOTUS released the results of Bush v Gore decision. Almost everyone was confused.

As I told my friends, the only reason to fear a cloture vote would be that it would give an air of legitimacy to the 60+ vote standard to confirm. Other than that, this is a win-win situation for us and few Libs seem to understand this. Even if Estrada is not confirmed (and I doubt that will happen when the 'strategery' sinks in on them), we will have those that voted against him on record - including some up for near re-election from the southern and/or 'red' states.

Graham was also a well-liked governor of Florida. He can probably withstand more heat than Nelson.

Estrada is about Pickering, too. I'm betting the Dems won't do this again because if they try to do that to Pickering, it will take about 30 minutes for the truth about their accusations about him to be proven the lies they are.

Exactly right. That was my point above. Even if we lose Estrada, they will not be stupid enough to expand any more political capital on these 'Borkings'. That means we get even MORE conservatives confirmed.

Once again, this signals the delusional and (hopefully) final stage of the demise of the Libs.

Perhaps I misstated myself. I agree with what you wrote, except I point out that the Dems confirmed Strom's aid, a conservative (white I assume) after the election last year.

I think the Dems are opposing Estrada because they don't want him to be the first Hispanic Supreme Court nominee and if he gets the DC court, it would be almost impossible to keep him from the next court. But, if Estrada were white, and nominated for the DC court, I wonder if the Dems would put up so much capital to stop his nomination...Why put so much capital into killing a nominee not for the Supremes. Now that I think about it, you're probably right, because then he'd simply be viewed like Pickering...

So, if I get this straight, conservative white = racist
conservative hispanic = radical, "stealth" idealogue (can't call a minority racist)
