We may know better, but you'll be getting plenty of encouragement anyway...the picture you paint of your lakeside retreat is quite lovely...a special place in your memory comort us, too...ain't that wonderful?
Whatta life.

One year we had a young grandson and granddaughter with us at the lake house just about every weekend in the summer.
Rainstorms were often dramatic, and one afternoon when Morgan was napping, one came up and I had Kyle (then 11) help me roll up the front porch bamboo blinds (kept off the hot morning sun) so they wouldn't rip in the wind.
He was a bit afraid of the lightning storm, so I suggested we could sit on the swing in relative safety to enjoy the rain.
I gave the adult spiel of if you hear the thunder, the bolt has already moved on, and soon had him applauding enthusiastically at the magnificent loud boom-booms!
Leading him further, when I knew the lightning was not in the immediate area, I told him to get off the porch into the warm rain in his shorts and shake his fists and arms at the sky to see what would happen.
God understands grandmothers, because when he did, the thunder sounded strongly far off and the rain intensified! LOL
He repeated the gestures with glee, and it happened repeatedly, harder each time!
There are few such triumphs in young lives these days, trapped by sterile electronics and 'Possessions' and name clothing that cannot rival the thrill of having awesome personal power....
It is up to us to allow them to tap into it.

You are a blast of a grandma. You should write a book. Are you writing all this down for your family to remember? I LOVE your stories! I'll buy your book. :)
To: SpookBrat
You are a part of a Big Freeper Family, Spookie.
If you know you are loved, let out a yell I can hear in South Carolina!! LOL

Sir Meekness, I'm talking to my mother right now and I think I'll be in Dallas on Tuesday and Wednesday. Maybe Wednesday for lunch? How's that?

Your descriptions are a joy to us, jw - and you and I love to share what we 'see!'
I am retired, unfettered now by dreaded schedules and time clocks and commuting and demands.
You here are kind to indulge us, delving into overflowing memory banks, without complaining when we get verbose...:))

Will be praying for you and your family, nephew, niece and all! I know this is a scary time but He will get you through it. Plus you know we are all thinking and praying for you. I know how you feel about your nephew. Of course you would be upset that he is going to war! I am crazy about my nieces and nephews and understand how you feel.

I just saw your flag on your profile. I was born in Searcy. :) (Shhhh...please don't tell anyone. My pride is wrapped up in being a Texan. It will crush me if word gets out that I'm not a native).
Night FRiend!

Be thinking about him and his young wife. We couldnt love him any more
we are so proud of him. Jo says the sweetest prayers at the dinner table every night. He says, "God please dont let **** get killed in the war and help all the bad people turn good." Amen. My prayers are with your nephew and your family.
Thanks for your letters, Pippin. Well said.

LadyX, it is often a mistake to go back and visit our old homes... (this from experience)But glad to hear you are healing and exercising :) Spookbrat, your post was very touching and I will include your nephew in my prayers. I have also "adopted" a navy man and airforce person through The Presidential Prayer Team to pray for every day, and one more will be merrier! :) Take care now.
God Bless our dear

"LadyX, it is often a mistake to go back and visit our old homes" I know that well, but every now and then I see Ichabod Crane is there fishing, and it makes me glad!
One home in Florida has been leveled, and the grove and beautiful rows of Australian pines that flanked the driveway and around the grove; and even the pond and wooded sections are erased.
It now is a half-mile stretch of cattle-grazing land, no evidence of the families who resided there.
It does not bother or grieve me....things change, and move on....the natural order of things.
