Hey, I will not want to live should Mel jump sides! I would have to be a traitor unto myself if he did and go see his movies anyway! I love this actor! But, I am so glad to see this list (including Mel) of all the actors who support Bush & our military. I was somewhat surprised though to see some of those names on there (Kurt Russell and Tom Cruise for instance). I'll just have to keep the list handy so I'll know who's movies to go see!

Please note that these statements are made only by actors we've already made as rich as God. What good does it do to boycott his work now? He doesn't have to work another day in his life. There are always idiots who'll attend his movies and rent his videos and DVDs.
My proposed "Hollywood Solution" is what the Romans did to Carthage: burn it, plow it under and salt the earth. After it detoxifies for a decade or so, turn it into something useful like strip malls.
I don't want to be the one that spoils the fun, but aren't we getting our panties bunched up a little too quickly here?
While I disagree with Ford, we should remember several points:
1. His statement about regime change was kind of clever and funny. If Clinton had talked about regime change in another country and someone here had come up with this line about him, most of us would be laughing. We don't have to get so partisan that we don't see the humor while we disagree. In fact, we were zealously going after regime change during the impeachment proceedings, and that wasn't un-American. I'm glad we're a country where people speak with opposing views.
2. His statement was relatively low-key, being released through a publicist. He's not getting up on a soap box, ranting in our faces every chance he gets.
3. Attacking him for getting an earring and dating Calista is petty. Heck, how many Republican businessman do we know that are doing the same thing, getting an earring and finding a young fling?
I for one will continue watch and pay for his movies because I enjoy them. Now Martin Sheen...he's taken his political activity to a different level. His work I would boycott.

Just because he's an actor doesn't add any weight to Harrison Ford's statement. Do you get this worked up over a neighbor who is anti-war? Do you ostracize those kinds of neighbors? No, you probably just ignore them, or you debate with them. Well, do your nervous system a favor and ignore Mr. Ford, too, unless you want to convert him, in which case you'll have to invite him to FR and debate the issue. He's entitled to his opinions, and he has a right to express them. Just nod your head, tell him "good luck with that", and change the channel. And, if you like his movies (not reality, movies!), then watch them. It's called entertainment.

Let us not forget the efforts Ford went to in avoiding military service during the Vietnam era.

I heard the interview and agree with you. I've not been a big fan of Lowe over the years, but his comments this morning were excellent. "One thing I do know. The men and women who are representing us are incredibly capable and brave. Once we've decided to go in, they deserve us to fall in line and support them. The best way we can do that is to back our President." This is paraphrased, but something to that effect. Not bad Mr. Lowe.

His earring came about from hanging around with Jimmy Buffet.

Thanks for all the comments folks. To those of you who think this should not be all that big of a deal I say this. People like Ford have every right to say what they do. I have every right to take exception to it and withdraw my financial support. I'm not angry at Ford and don't seek to encourage anyone else to be angry with him. On the other hand I love this nation, want it to prosper and don't want to see my fellow citizens harmed. I disagree with Ford and think that his vision would cause harm to the U.S. Therefore I am inclined to oppose Ford until he gets with the program. I'm not going to waste my time trying to change his opinion. In all my years, I've never seen a leftist who had half a brain or any inclination to use the marginal faculties they have left. Why bother?

What a shame this is. He has been one of my favorites for years!! When he did that movie with Ellen's toy, I began to have my doubts, though.
I was so looking forward to the new Indiana Jones movie. I won't be going now.

I believe Ellen's Toy was still in Toy mode when that movie was made. So I'm asking myself, in all of Hollywierd their wasn't a straight woman who could play this role? What is it with Hollywierd and their perverted ways? If she's a lesbo let her play a lesbo. Nah, we've got to support this relationship. I'd never heard of Ellen's Toy until she was Ellen's Toy. Nice career move I suppose.
What I find interesting is that these folks are supposedly born this way. Now we find that they can shed the mantle as easily as trading in the old American Flyer for a Schwin with a kick-stand.
Hmmmm.

I'm not providing a dime to a man that will use it to fight everything I stand for. It's that simple.
That's exactly the way I feel.
