Well, they did such a good job of stopping Hitler, and such a good job of protecting altar boys, that I think we should be grateful that they care so much.

/sarcasm

I vigorously disagree with what the Holy Father is doing here, too, but you can take your anti-Catholicism and stuff it you know where.

You don't have to be sarcastic and I'm Catholic. This is way beyond where the Church should be going. I think this Pope is being used but if not then he is injecting his personal opinion but using his Church standing as authority for that opinion. That is not correct for only when speaking "ex cathedra" is he deemed infallible and that is not the case here but many anti-American forces may use this to reinforce their cause. This may further damage the Church in America if that is even possible now.

Get stuffed.

This Pope was a warrior against Communism, even took a bullet in that fight. You have got NO RIGHT to disrespect a man who's done so much good.

The FIRST country which tried to stop Hitler was CATHOLIC Poland. Pope did not have so many divisions as Stalin had, so it was Stalin who accomplished this task.

"...Maybe while he's there he can tell the UN what he's going to do about the sexual crimes committed by "priests" in his "Church" during his tenure....

I'm fascinated by this idea that the Pope must remain silent on worldy matters until sexual sin is eradicated among the one billion souls in the Church.

So tell me, patriciaruth, does this apply to The Heavenly Mole as well? Should he refrain from intervening in the affairs of other countries--bestowing freedom and democracy from the tips of tomahawks--until sexual perversion is eradicated among the 290 million People in his country? Until sexual crimes against American children are ended?

Or is the Heavenly Mole absolved from such considerations by the fact that the military might at his disposal is fourteen times greater than the rest of the world combined? You know the old progressive pagan belief that "might makes right"?

The Pope's buggerers are so much worse than America's buggerers because the Pope has no cruise missiles with which to entertain and distract the masses during the long, boring evenings in bleak midwinter.

I agree with you 100%. I am as Catholic as they come...well maybe not as Catholic as I could be...but still...the Pope needs to pray for a quick ending to the war and just stay out of the limelight on this one. Let him go to North Korea if he feels like stopping a war.

Well, they did such a good job of stopping Hitler,

I have no interest in reading the 220+ replies in this thread. I just wanted to let you know that you are a very ignorant person. The Vatican lacks an army, and is therefore incapable of "stopping" any military force (although Vatican ideology was instrumental in ending communism). Cardinals and Bishops around Rome were very active in hiding Jews (saving as much as 20% of those marked for concentration camps). The idea that the Vatican aided the Nazis in any way (their anti-catholicism was very open) is a fallacy created by people like yourself who hate Catholics because you secretly hate yourself.

The Pope's job is ALWAYS to oppose violence and NEVER to take sides in a political dispute. If you don't understand that, you know nothing about Catholicism, and very little about the teachings of Our Saviour who died on the Cross so that we may be forgiven.
