[history]
March 3, 2003 -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton "fully supports" President Bush's Iraq policy, her office said last night - on the eve of her visit today to an upstate arsenal that makes military hardware like mortars and howitzers for U.S. troops.

"One thing this proves is that SHE IS NOT GOING TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT! Most Democreeps don't want any of the Senators being for the war. That would be a mark against her if she ran and she knows that."
Oh she wants the presidency badly. And the Dems will give it to her if she doesn't wait too long. i see a lot a similarity between her and Teddy Kennedy (until Chappaquidic) Neither had done anything to deserve it but both were annointed due to previous glorys.

I can see her running in 2008 when Bush is out of the picture. She knows she will lose against Bush. I don't think Hillary likes to lose - she is too cold and calculating for that. 2008 will be good because we may not have a good candidate like Bush to run for office. I don't see anyone right now that would seem like a likely choice for the Repubs in 2008.

Ummmmm. Now I'm having second thoughts about war.

"...I know by lurking around the democreep chat rooms the presidential candidates stack up with the democreeps and Hillary is not a viable candidate for them...."
God bless you for spending time with the other side, sparing the rest of us weaker souls.
I am not surprised to hear that HRC is not popular among the activist Dems who visit chat rooms. No one would hate an opportunist and poseur like Hillary more than committed ideologues of her own political stripe.
In her mind, however, she is very popular among the useful idiots out in soccer mom territory. Popular enough that she could easily win a closely contested primary contest with a crowded field.
She probably won't run in 2004, but you can bet she is keeping all her options open, testing various messages to see which has traction, working her network to stock pile markers to be called in at some opportune time.
And, I can assure you she does not fear Howard Dean. He is not a serious candidate, but a perfect foil. When his poll numbers get into the low teens he will start to make the on-the-payroll professionals in Washington nervous. They will be the first to sense their comfortable sincures in danger.
That's just the moment that they may start begging HRC to enter the race to save the party from the McGoverniks. Do you remember the ABM? No not the missile system but the Anybody But McGovern Movement. It was big in 1972, when I was a pup HS sophmore supporting my beloved loser in his crusade for acid, amnesty and abortion. The Dem pros won't wait until its too late this time.

LOL - Actually I only go there to see what the enemy is up to. Especially when it comes to 2004. There are so many candidates and I really want to see who the favorite will be. Surprisingly, Hillary is never mentioned at all! Dean seems to be the favorite. I just want to know who Bush will be up against! One of my favorite teachers in High School used to say this over and over again "Fore-warned is Fore-armed" and I always went by that. Know your enemy and how he thinks. As much as I am sickened by their websites and chat rooms and will never post anything on Free Republic, I think it is important that we know what they are thinking and doing in order to be well prepared!

Does anyone know when the Senate will be back in session?
To: kattracks
BUMP!
To: kattracks
She's running in 2004. She is carefully setting things up. Let the other run in a disorganized way and slip in at the last moment. Why would they think she wouldn't stab them in back. This is very scary. With illegal voting, she could very much win the primary.
To: areafiftyone
She is also smart enough to know what the majority wants. I believe she is running.

very good point

Just a question. Does anyone know where the "soccer moms" started. I was a soccer mom and most all I know are Conservatives. How did they get such a bad name? Just wondering.
To: areafiftyone
No, only Dean is taking an anti-war stance. The others are in the mushy middle on the subject-- Lieberman, being the most hawkish. Kerry has even lampooned Dean for suggesting our foreign policy be beholden to the whims of the U.N.

Graham voted against the war resolution.

Hillary is doing what she knows best. Going along with the crowd until she finds a weakness to feed on.

hillary! must be reading the polls.Looks that way. Two of her three press releases on Friday began with the words, "Sen. Clinton Joins Bipartisan Push to ...". She seems to be trying out a new strategery.

If Hillary is talking, she is lying. NEVER go by her words. Always go by her actions. (And by those who are members of her storm troopers.)
She knows she can SAY anything because her propaganda corps members will say what she REALLY thinks for her.
Hillary supports HER OWN RISE TO POWER, period, whatever that takes.

"....Just a question. Does anyone know where the "soccer moms" started. I was a soccer mom and most all I know are Conservatives. How did they get such a bad name? Just wondering...."
Political scientists and demographers are ever slicing up the population into sub-groups that exhibit similar voting and purchasing behaviors. The term soccer mom was coined to describe one of these demographic cohorts.
I'm not a practioner, so I will wing the definition. A soccer mom is a caucasian, middle- to upper-middle class suburban resident with children. They may be married or single parents. They may not work outside the home, but typically do.
As for voting patterns, they are shifters. Personal and family security are big issues for SMs. When crime or an external threat makes them anxious, they tend to vote for the Daddy party - the Republicans.
When not feeling insecure they vote for the Mommy party, the party that promises to spend other people's money for the benefit of themselves and their families. Top priorities are public schools, subsidized day care, parks, recreation, universal cadillac health care and just about anything that will occupy their kids' time at someone else's expense. "Reproductive rights" are an important issue for a majority, but not all, soccer moms.
As a rule, soccer moms tend not to be overly concerned about marginal tax rates. They think that big government is a good investment -- it delivers services that they need -- and have little or no understanding of how a free enterprise economy operates. They favor the delivery of services today over long-term economic growth.
Soccer moms were perhaps the most important demo in the 2000 and 2002 elections. During the 1990's they voted for the Mommy party. Disgust over Clinton and 9/11 led them to shift marginally to the Daddy party. The Dems need to reverse this trend or may not recover power in Washington until 2010 or later.
Hope this helps and doesn't ruffle too many feathers.
