WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The capture of suspected Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is "extraordinarily significant" because he is critical to planning future assaults on the United States, a senior U.S. official said on Saturday. "He's the senior-most al Qaeda guy to be captured yet," the official told Reuters.
"He was critical to not only the planning for the September 11, 2001, attacks but also is central to the planning for future attacks, so his capture is extraordinarily significant," he said.
Pakistan said it had arrested Mohammed on Saturday in a major breakthrough in the international crackdown against Osama bin Laden's network.
Although some reports suggested the FBI teamed up with Pakistan to make the capture, U.S. officials said the Central Intelligence Agency was the American agency involved.

RE your post #16 - Thanks for posting that article. AN excerpt:
Binalshibh told Al-Jazeera he hoped to have been one of the hijackers but could not obtain an entry visa to the United States.
Gee, Binalshibh, what a bummer, huh...

Well if the CIA made the arrest, guess we don't have to pay out any rewards.
Overhead at Gitmo: Fire up the irons Igor we have a new guest for questioning.

Oh, and for the rest of you out there hiding under every knook and cranny..
It's only a matter of time.
Why right now for all you know there's someone's out there secretly listening and watching you.
Have a nice day! It may be your last one spent in the Jihad.
Try not to get too freaky and paranoid.

Time to get out the car batteries and anal probes! Hey, no time to start celebrating yet. We've still got work to do.

What will the Dems say now? Time to wrap up the WOT and focus on the economy, I expect... No, they'll say, this proves we can't go to war against Iraq....after all, Bush can't chew gum and walk at the same time.

I hope our government gives him a military trial. Don't let the O.J. jury and the leftist judges loose on this one!

No I think this guy will get the digs at the "Very exclusive" Island Paradise of Diego Garcia. this guy does not deserve to be on DGAR unless they will be tieing him naked and spreadeagle in the noonday sun at the plantation so that the coconut crabs and nuclear donkeys can have their way with him for several hours a day. Hopefully he will be very close to the surf so that when the tide comes in, he can practice holding his breath for several hours of the day, also.

Maybe it's time to pull Yousef out of prison and get him on the same turf as Uncle Mo. I'm sure they've got a lot of catching up to do.

Maybe it's time to pull Yousef out of prison and get him on the same turf as Uncle Mo. I think after some very intense interrogation, we should give each of them a ride to about 5000 feet, 10,000 if they'd survive the atmospheric conditions. Then politely push them out the door for a little sky-diving (sans parachute, of course). Lets see, what would be a good target. Where should we drop them off? Any suggestions? Maybe the Afghan/Paki border, in hopes their friends find them and maybe even witness the event. We could even drop a few leaflets an hour before hand to advertise the dropoff.

If I'm not mistaken, MSNBC is reporting the captured guy has already admitted to planning 9-11, according to a super running on the bottom of the screen. More like boasted, I suspect, the way Malvo allegedly boasted about his murders.

Binalshibh was captured in Karachi. Now, Khalid Mohammed was captured in the army town of Rawalpindi. I wonder what the story is behind that.
