Nice post.
This brave marines uncle is beyond contempt. He not only is prepared to protect a madman - but he is prepared to cause a familial rift between his sister and her son.
If this man dies in Iraq, it is his own conscious doing.

How do these human shields think they are going to deter our first offensive actions? Don't they realize that the targets are only latitude, longitude, altitude entries in a database? The guys that drop them have no knowledge of where they are going and the planners do not know the coordinates of the human shields.
It looks like the Darwin awards are going to have to be posthumous class actions.

I don't know about the family rift, she does say that her brother is naive. I hope that she has more common sense than her brother, and will support her son.

I'm sure she does at the moment.
But when her brother (or GOD forbid, her son) comes home in a body bag, it's then that the 'guilt trips' are dished out.
Terrible situation for a family, IMHO.

I don't know about the family rift, she does say that her brother is naive. Fortunately the species in this family will be protected by natural selection.

The DoD does have some good idea where the shields will be located, even if the pilots just see it as coordinates. From another article posted on FR, shields were complaining that they were being sent to guard "real" targets, not schools and orphanages. So, even the shields KNOW that they are being used. They just don't seem to have enough self respect to care that their lives are going to be wasted on top of a strategic site. To me, a human shield would literally be grabbing a person on the street, throwing them to the ground, and climbing on top of their body, shielding them from the falling debris. Now, where do I remember seeing that, lately? Oh, yes, like at the WTC! Remember?

His uncle is a fool. Tony Blair, Go!
I'm sorry, I've got no sympathy for him or any of his idiot American comrades!
To: Uncle George
Thanks for the heads up on this story, Uncle G.
