Marine's uncle is human shield

A SQUADDIE preparing for war against Saddam Hussain has learned his uncle has volunteered to be a human shield in Iraq.

Royal Marine Commando Steven Dixon, 22, flew to Kuwait as his peace protester uncle Dieter Seagar, 28, jetted out to help in Iraqi refugee camps.

Last night Dieter’s mum Jean, 57, appealed for peace as she spoke of her concern for the pair.

Mrs Seagar, of Accrington, Lancs, said: “I have heard from both of them in the Gulf. I was relieved, but I’m frightened and will continue to be so.”

Dieter is working in Jordan and if war starts he will become part of human shields in Iraq to protect schools and hospitals from allied missile attacks.

Mrs Seagar, a care worker for the National Autistic Society, added: “Steven knows his uncle is out there. He doesn’t agree with what he is doing, but respects him for doing what he believes in.

“Dieter is naive and knows Saddam could use him. Steven is prepared to go about his duties. He has a job to do.”

I think of it as brainless idiots, with no direction in their life, no goals or responsibilities, who have nothing better to do than be a human shield. They do it so that they can use it as conversation filler, when they are in their fifties, drunk at the corner bar. IF, they live to be that old!

Actually what I have read is that these shield guys think they are going in to surround civilian targets, but in fact they find out they are placed in front of military targets.

If they try and leave, Saddam will have them shot I am sure.
