I am old enough that when I learned the pledge, the phrase wasn't in there.
Adding it was a pathetic little slap at "Godless Comunism" and acomplished nothing except to break the word flow of thte pledge and cause division among Americans.

It is past time to take it out and use the original pledge.

I thought public schools at their very nature are an exercise in disobedience.

I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

All the more reason for Miguel Estrada, Charles Pickering, Pricilla Owens and many more like them to sit on the judicial benches instead of these judicial activists that want to legislate from the bench and pass laws that would never pass the legislative process through congress.!

Not that I disagree with you (or Bill Donohue) in principle, but you must be kidding about PUBLIC SCHOOLS taking a stand for theism, patriotism, or anything else people like us believe in.

They're the base level of the system that has the 9th Circuit judges as its pinnacle.

With liberty and justice for all, BORN AND UNBORN!

The pledge was not banned.

They should be removed not because most Americans disagree with them but because of jurisprudential incompetence.

No, it's because most Americans disagree with them.

Iraq’s problem is tyranny of the minority. Ironically, that’s our problem as well. But the Iraqi people at least stand to be liberated and have their tyrant deposed.

This fellow is an idiot to suggest any comparable relationship. A real idiot.

Ping! Judicial malpractice has been committed and those responsible must be removed from the bench. They should be removed not because most Americans disagree with them but because of jurisprudential incompetence.

Point of View - Today's Broadcast

Citizen's Call for Action Petition to Members of the House Judiciary Committee

We must take action to defend the heritage, the faith, and the freedoms of this great nation by IMPEACHING judges Alfred T. Goodwin and Stephen Reinhardt. They have violated the Constitution by ignoring the will of the people. The framers of our Constitution intended checks and balances to keep freedom alive in this country. Sadly, the judicial system has remained unchecked far too long. I feel that IMPEACHMENT is the appropriate action against these judges who have violated our trust and their Constitutional role.

Sign the petition for impeachment!

Liberty Counsel

The Ninth Circuit has always been a radical, left-leaning court. A recent survey showed that 80%-90% of the Ninth Circuit’s decisions are reversed by the U.S. Supreme Court. In one recent term, the Supreme Court reversed 24 of the Ninth Circuit’s decisions, and 16 of those decision were reversed by a 9-0 opinion by the United States Supreme Court. It’s hard to find the United States Supreme Court unanimously agreeing on anything, but one thing it has agreed on is that the Ninth Circuit is in left field.

It is time for Congress to take action and impeach the two judges on this Federal Court. They will only act if we all get involved and let them know our outrage. I am asking you to sign this petition and forward it to all your friends. You may not be able to go overseas and fight for our freedoms, but you can take a stand by signing this petition.

One of the two judges in the majority, Stephen Reinhardt, is a holdover from the liberal judges appointed by President Carter. This judge is even left of the Ninth Circuit Court. Judge Reinhardt once issued an opinion that the United States Constitution guarantees the right to assisted suicide. This decision was overruled. During one term of the Supreme Court, this same judge was unanimously reversed 5 separate times by the High Court on 5 separate cases. Obviously a judge like this does not belong on a Federal Court.

In just a few days America will celebrate its 226th birthday on the Fourth of July. In spite of what a couple of liberal judges say, this is still "One Nation Under God."It is imperative that every patriotic American signs this petition.

This petition will immediately be forwarded to all 535 members of the U.S. Congress. Those members have the authority to remove these judges. This petition will also be sent to President George W. Bush.

After you sign this petition, please forward this web link to everyone you know. Every family member and friend must join together with us and take a stand against this assault of the American spirit.

A major earthquake will now hit California causing major destruction as a result of this insult to the Almighty God by the ninth circuit court and the failure of the people to speak up and stop this.

To remove a Federal Judge you would need to get him/her certified medically unfit (which would bar them from hearing cases), get him/her convicted of crimes and doing jail time, or impeach and convict him/her for high crimes and misdemeanors in the US Senate. There is a very low probablity of any of these happening.

But FR is famous for outside-the-box thinking. And I think there is another way.

The power to create the Circuit Courts lies with Congress. The funding of the Courts lies with Congress. Congress is entitled to "devolve" the 9th Circuit. Basically, through legislation, the 9th Circuit is eliminated and a new set of courts created to replace it. There is no obligation to transfer, relocate, or otherwise move the judges, especially if Congress specifically states that the present judges are retired with full benefits (no "harm" or "injury").

Congress passes the law, the President signs it and good bye #9. However, you know the dumbocraps would raise holy hell. This is their pet court (along with the DC Circuit).

I'm a Christian. I say the pledge.

But you know, are we really "One Nation, Under God"?

No. We are "One Nation, Under a Constitution". We don't even act like we are "Under God" considering all the sin and immorality in our government and daily life.

"One Nation, Under God" is not just inaccurate from a constitutional perpsective, it's also a lie.

My understanding is that the 9th circuit decision has been stayed pending an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. Hence there is no Civil Disobediance involved. Teachers who say the old "unlawful" pledge are not breaking the law. Indeed those who change the pledge to exclude the reference to "under God" would be violating the Congressional mandate which requires that the pledge include those words.

This judgment is a gift to the left. The fringe on the right may just see this as some kind of biblical threat to our way of life and behave in such a way that the centrist, moderate, libertarian and economic conservatives will have to disassociate themselves from them.

As much as I dislike it, I have to admit that it’s the ONLY brilliant thing that the left had done in years. Divide and conquer…
