Well, whatever. I wish they'd have just built them back (+ one story).

Architecturally it was the best of the bunch...
which isn't saying much.

They look incomplete; like some crazed, Islamic giant lopped the tops off with a scimitar. I guess that it's their way of apologizing to Al Qaeda for getting the old towers in the way of their hijacked airliners.

The developers have already let it be known that the finished site will be completely different from whatever design was chosen.

A year and half to choose the design they're going to ignore. Government at work.

Don't think for a second that this is what is going up on that site. I'll bet everything I have that Bush will see to it that the WTC is rebuilt as it was before.

I love this plan.. and especially the significance of the spire height. 1776 Feet. I can't think of a better height than 1776

The building is 1776 feet tall...very esoteric sense of patriotism.

It's better than the original but it's not my preference. The two glass columns had grown on me, and I liked the park that the plan called for. I like ideas that echo the orginal Twin Towers.

This one makes me think of Emerald City.

I wonder why this was removed from Breaking News- it was a breaking news headline on CNN....

Let the New York City council know this is unacceptable.

Good. I was rooting for this design. The man was a Polish immigrant, inspired by seeing the Statue of Liberty from his ship. He wanted something immigrants would see on the way in.

He retains the walls from the original WTC, as a sign of America's enduring foundations.

Every year, at 9/11 at 8:51, a clear shaft of light will fall upon the memorial garden.

Go to the web site and look through the detailed plans. It grows on you.

My favorite didn't win :-(

http://www.unitedarch.com

Expansive, ambitious, generous, romantic.

Five towers surrounding the WTC site like a family holding hands. Grief and optimism are held in a balance.

A city in the sky, like a visitation from the 22nd century, beckoning us forward.

The proposal will not be built but the vision remains.
