7 PM EST... strange as that's prime time local news on the East Coast isn't it....
Guess he's getting the preemptive rebuttal to Saddam's interview with CBS... isn't that tonight

I think this speech was planned before anybody knew about the Rather/Saddam deal...but it does look sort of like the hand of God once again, doesn't it? I wonder if any of the networks will carry the speech. My guess is they will not. The president is not named clinton so I guess it doesn't really matter what he has to say.

What's really strange is that this wasn't scheduled as late as this AM....
In fact, when CBS and the WH got into their snit this AM regarding whether the President would be available, the WH was quite insistent that the Presidents time was not available do to previous engagements.....
Hastily scheduled speech on Iraq?

If I recall correctly, first word of the Desert Storm air campaign came at 6:41 eastern, during the evening news, and Bush 41 addressed the nation at 7:00 pm.
What a heady night that was!

Guess he's getting the preemptive rebuttal to Saddam's interview with CBS... isn't that tonight My first reaction was that, this is it we're off to Baghdad; but, after having read the article concerning CBS's refusal to give time for a rebuttal of Saddams propaganda video, I'm thinking it could be that as well.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Hmmm? That's a good point!
