MSNBC | 2/26/03 | Wait4Truth

The President will speak on the subject of Iraq tonight at 7:00 pm EST. I know that MSNBC will be carrying it. If anyone can let us know who else will or will not be carrying the speech, it would be appreciated. Thanks!

If the POTUS is speaking to the Hoover Institute tonight he will not be announcing that the bombs are falling or anything remotely close. He may lay out some new things...but we will not be going to war just yet. Also, the weapons inspectors are still in country. I do not belive we would attak with them still there. Not for fear of hitting them with an errant bomb...but because I think we would be afraid that that Sadaam may harm them.

The bottom line is the President would not announce the comencment of hostilities from a speech to the Hoover Institute, that would be done from the Oval Office.

I love this President, but I'm not the least bit interested in hearing him speak about Iraq again. He's already said that everything that he can say, and more than he's needed to. He's already said that Saddam will be disarmed. He's said it twice already this week. I'm reminded of a line from one of my favorite movies, The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. Tuco is bathing when a man whom he had previously shot (and cost him an arm) comes upon him. The man starts talking about how he's going to enjoy his revenge, when there's a shot, because Tuco's got his gun under the bubbles. He stands up, looks at him, and says "when it's time to shoot, shoot. Don't talk." Dubya's reached that stage on Iraq. If it's time to shoot, shoot. But stop talking about it...

Don't think there is any relationship with tonights speech, but I do know that troops in Kuwait at known locations are beginning to be moved to undisclosed locations and I am talking Brigade size units.

My money says the president will make the case for going alone without UN approval. This is necessary in order for him to get UN approval.

I hate to pop some bubbles, but the "war" will not start for a few days.

There's always France.

I just read the article.....even that was slow...it must not be just FR. Anyways, here's a clip:

UNITED NATIONS, Feb. 26 — With his administration making strides on the diplomatic front to prepare for war, President Bush was set to outline his vision later Wednesday for a future without Saddam Hussein, arguing that regime change in Iraq will make it easier to achieve peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

I agree completely. At this point I cringe when I hear Bush say "no more games, must disarm, will take action, etc."

This has been a concern of mine for awhile. How do we get them out of country? Could France prevent them from getting out of country by demanding a UN resolution for that?

I just hope we come to the final phase of this thing soon. I think everyone is getting a little restless with all this talk and no action.

Hopefully this will be the last speech that the President gives before he gives the really big one. That would be such an eye opener to many Americans. Maybe he will put those important points into the speech.

If we can get a majority in the Sec. Council (with or without a France veto), we'll take that. We won't change anything about the resolution to get it, but Bush thinks it's a smart thing politically for himself and Blair to get UN approval. It would also make the UN pony up money for the rebuilding.

I agree, but the beginning of the final positioning is starting. The big effort will be getting those troops and equipment into Turkey. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see some troops in kuwait get moved to the Saudi/Iraq border with of course the usual denials from the Saudis.

I'm sure you'r correct.

That CNN and MSNBC are covering it is strange though.

I would imagine some bombshell is going to be dropped and the networks were told something important would be in the speach. Could be some positive proof of WMD in Iraq, a viable threat to the US or any other important announcement. Votes are there for Estrada for example (I doubt this one).

My favorite wish would be a Special Opp raid in Iraq that provided proof of AlQueda in Iraq.
