Sure is a lot of "what happened on this day" that makes one wonder if Bush is going to go ballistic.

He's said that he needs to do more in selling his economic plan and his rationale for war with Iraq. He'll start on the latter tonight, I guess.

"The bombing begins in 5 minutes...." No, I think he would say the bombing began 5 minutes ago.

I hate to pop some bubbles, but the "war" will not start for a few days. Wars are won by logistics and the logistics train for this conflict is still not in place.
Consider these issues:
1. The Turks have agreed in principle, but not the first US Soldier has deployed there let alone their equipment. Granted, there are some air Force types already in place, but no ground troops massing on the border with Iraq.
2. The helicopters for the 101st have to arrive at port, have the shrouds taken off and then go through pre-flight and a test flight.
These are just two of many issues that will come to light. As I have said in other threads here on FR, there is no moon in Iraq on April 2. That is where my money is.

I won't be missing this one tonight. I have a feeling that this is going to be a very important speech. Thanks for the heads up. You're right. This is the biggie. We've now entered the endgame for securing U.N. support, and I suspect Bush will make his best case tonight. It's too late to try it in front of the U.N. itself, because the diplomats already have their marching orders by that time. There are two areas he may choose to address that he has so far dodged.
One is the parallel between this and the Kosovo operation, where the Euros begged us to join in, and intentionally sidestepped the U.N. to avoid a Russian veto. That's a very important point, because I bet most Americans aren't aware of that. Also, it makes us look like we have more respect of the U.N. than did the French, etc., who pushed that, because at least we're trying to go through the U.N.
The other thing he may discuss are the terrorist training camps within Iraq. Most of the American people do not know that terrorists were trained in Iraq on how to hijack U.S. planes -- including on a full-size B707. Regardless of the direct link to 9/11, that would be enough to send most Americans over the edge.

I think we'll attack mainly from the air for at least the first few days, so there there is no need for the 101st to be in place right away.

"Tonight's address is before the American Enterprise Institute."
Rush was just talking about this - "I wonder how the POTUS is going to announce the war". He said he will probably come on with a standard type general speach to some group or orginazation and then drop the bomb. So to speak.

No I'm not sure it was 7pm, but that is how I recall it. It was definitely 7pm or 8pm, on the nose.,p> It was at 7. We had to leave the house shortly afterwards to buy our first SUV! :) I recall how quiet the night was when I left the house and how bright the stars were. I had been watching the bombs exploding on television, so I really noticed the contrast.

Have we had a major virus attack?
This might have something to do with it:
'Lovegate' computer worm spreading
Now those are the kinds of "foreign affairs" that I know nothing about. :)
