Which will the world's future be: Muslim, European or American?
Jewish World Review ^ | 2-24-03 | Dennis Prager

There are now three ideologies competing to shape the future of mankind. They are militant Islam, Western European secularism and socialism, and American Judeo-Christianity and capitalism. The first is being spread both peacefully and violently, the second is being spread peacefully, and the third is not being spread.

===========================================

The world's future is being decided at this time.

Such moments are extremely rare in history. And when they have occurred, they have between two, not three, competing ideologies.

But there are now three ideologies competing to shape the future of mankind. They are militant Islam, Western European secularism and socialism, and American Judeo-Christianity and capitalism. The first is being spread both peacefully and violently, the second is being spread peacefully, and the third is not being spread.

Though most people ignore the fact, almost all of the world's believing Muslims believe that all of mankind should be Muslim. This, in and of itself, is not troubling -- after all, most Christians would like the whole world to be Christian, and most Westerners would like the whole world to democratic. What is troubling is that if only 10 percent of these Muslims are prepared to use violence to impose their religion on others, we are talking about 100 million people.

This is the reason about one million non-Muslim Sudanese have been killed in the last 15 years -- because they are resisting the violent imposition of Islam by the Islamic government in Khartoum. This is the reason for the Muslim-Christian violence in Nigeria -- Christians there, too, are resisting the violent imposition of Islam. And this is the reason for Islamic terror -- to weaken those countries, particularly the United States and Israel, that stand in the way of an Islamic takeover.

The second ideology seeking to dominate the world is secularism and socialism as practiced in Western Europe and supported by educated elites around the world. This is a primary reason for the anti-American demonstrations in Western Europe and in the United States. They were far more against America (especially the America of George W. Bush) than they were against war. Most of these people could not care less about the wars of the world. They have been silent throughout the mass murder of Sudan's blacks, during the genocide in Rwanda, during China's crushing of Tibet, and during Saddam's wars against Iran, Kuwait and Iraq's own Kurds. American and European "peace" activists have found those atrocities and wars quite boring.

Western European socialists and their American (and Canadian, and Latin American) supporters are as passionate about secularism and socialism as believing Muslims are about Islam. And they want to dominate the world as much as militant Muslims want Islam to. Their vehicles are the United Nations, the European Union, international treaties such as the Kyoto Protocols, and international institutions such as the International Court.

Regarding the American way, there are serious impediments to its success.

First, while the first two ideologies -- Islam and socialism/secularism -- dominate many countries, the third ideology only dominates one -- America. There is no other country that claims to be Judeo-Christian and no other that has such strong support for capitalism and small government (the opposite of socialism). Therefore, while both the militant Muslims and the socialists/secularists have supporters around the world, American values have few. That is why America goes it alone -- with the partial exceptions of Israel and Britain, no other society has the same values as we do.

Second, neither Judeo-Christian nor capitalist values are secure in America. Many Americans, including almost its entire intellectual class, are as hostile to Judeo-Christian and non-socialist values as the militant Muslims and European socialists are.

Third, almost no one is teaching the next generation of Americans (as almost no one taught the present adult generation) what is unique, let alone superior, about American values. Our children are overwhelmingly educated by people who believe in Europe's values, not in ours.

It's amazing to hear an author rewrite Hayek as if he was a new idea. I think Hayek wrote the book on why America is so great and collectivism and such are so wrong. The good thing about collectivism is that the old collectivists are too scared about becoming socialist and the young ones are too inexperienced and weak (not to mention foolish). I fear that if Armageddon comes in my lifetime, it will be a combination of the two, something out of Burgess' 1985, which is, I might add, a very good look at what could happen in the 21st Century. Come, Jesus, come.

And what a bitter irony it is.

Conservative, middle class, patriotic Americans are busy earning a living & have turned their children over to the socialist, anti-American NEA.

I can only pray that these parents will wake up before the country is lost.

A republic......if you can keep it.

Both Europe and the Muslim world will fall into a sort of "victimhood", and if not for the nasty old United States, they would reign supreme. One could see the outlines of today's world in the George Orwell novel, "1984", a most prescient projection of trends that were visible in 1948, the year in which the story line was conceived.

The United States will prevail, not only because there is no successfully competitive coalition to stand against us, but because we are the greater light of the world. We are perilously close to a New Dark Age, when the forces of reaction would have us turn out the lights and retreat to a more primitive level of existence. There are those who rage that a mere 6% of the world's population is using up 25% of the world's present production of resources, but we use them far more efficiently than any other society on the face of the planet. And where is it written that the resources we are now using must define what resources we shall be using 25, or 50, or a hundred years from now? We may be tapping the sunlight directly for our energy supplies by then, because photovoltaic energy collection devices will not always be as crude and inefficient as they now are. Petroleum may be a finite resource, but what about mining methyl hydrate from the ocean floors? Or recycling ALL organic waste as a synthetic petroleum? We know how, it is a matter of directing our research and investment into ways of doing it in a cost-effective manner. Direct power generation by the fusion of hydrogen is still only a dream, but human have dreamt large before.

Lead, follow, or get the H*ll out of the way.

I posted this in another thread, but it fits here too. Are we being led into a trap?

From a catholic website:

4.8.90 - OUR LORD: (Message No. 297) "The war in the Middle East will only slow down for a short while, and then will escalate into a major confrontation! The United States of America must not intervene. The plans of the Secret Society is to weaken the United States and the West. Fighting will soon also begin in Central America and South Africa. This too, will bring about instability to these regions, and also a threat to the Western world. The purpose behind this is to engage the United States and draw its forces to these regions, weakening its own defences. This is a ploy by the Secret Societies which control Russia and also the West - for there is a devious plan created by Lucifer to destroy the great power of the United States of America and, by doing this, destroy the free world! What you see with your eyes is only a camouflage. For this reason the Eastern Block nations have turned to democracy, but this too is a plan of the Secret Societies which I will not name at this time. Greater ones [disasters] are yet to come, very shortly, with greater earthquakes, more floods and more hurricanes and tornadoes that will rip through the United States and also Australia. There will be a disaster with a bridge, bringing down many souls unto death; an air disaster; a shipping disaster - which will cost many lives!.... More countries will be invaded unless My children pray! Soon fighting will once again commence in this nation [Israel] and all the nations of this region, unless My children pray and do penance. Many are suffering due to the heavy floods; but more will yet come - it is not finished."

Unfortunately, all too true in the short-to-intermediate term. In the longer term European socialism is self-destructing demographically while American conservatism has finally gained a toehold via the revival of home education and retreat from the disaster of socialist welfare economics and immoral behavior.

The real question is: Will the "Americans" submit to the socialists in order to secure a victory against Islam (as planned I might add)?

Revelation Chapter 21

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband; 3 and I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling of God is with men. He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them; 4 he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away." 5 And he who sat upon the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." Also he said, "Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true." 6 And he said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the fountain of the water of life without payment. 7 He who conquers shall have this heritage, and I will be his God and he shall be my son. 8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted, as for murderers, fornicators, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their lot shall be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death." 9 Then came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues, and spoke to me, saying, "Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb." 10 And in the Spirit he carried me away to a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12 It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were inscribed; 13 on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 And he who talked to me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city and its gates and walls. 16 The city lies foursquare, its length the same as its breadth; and he measured the city with his rod, twelve thousand stadia; its length and breadth and height are equal. 17 He also measured its wall, a hundred and forty-four cubits by a man's measure, that is, an angel's. 18 The wall was built of jasper, while the city was pure gold, clear as glass. 19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every jewel; the first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and the street of the city was pure gold, transparent as glass. 22 And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. 23 And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine upon it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 By its light shall the nations walk; and the kings of the earth shall bring their glory into it, 25 and its gates shall never be shut by day--and there shall be no night there; 26 they shall bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. 27 But nothing unclean shall enter it, nor any one who practices abomination or falsehood, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life.

The second ideology seeking to dominate the world is secularism and socialism as practiced in Western Europe and supported by educated elites around the world.

Personally, I don't even like describing these kinds of elites as "educated". Granted, they generally spent a lot of time in classrooms and have degrees, but most of them aren't really educated in the true sense of the word.

Americanism will prevail. But it WILL be ugly.

Islam. It is spreading like a weed, and through its militant with, it will extinguish that which gets in its way. Like a virus, it will infect "liberal" (Euro-American) cultures and use their freedoms agains them, from within. However, on its own, it cannot compete technologically or militarily with the "liberal" states.

Europe . So enamored with its liberalism, that it has now become infected by Islam. While the population of European bloods declines, Muslim birthrates ensure that within 100 years, Europe will look much like the Middle East. Unwilling to use its forces against Islam, Europe loses.

Americanism. European liberalism, but with BALLS. Plenty of smug liberalism, but the core of America is conservative. Not just that, but Americans, when push comes to shove, are capable of Great Violence in protection of its interests.

Unfortunately, it may come down to which side can inflict the Great Violence on the other side. One side has fired the opening salvo, the otherside has just warmed up...

People are drawn to strong economies. After we take over Iraq and the ME, do you think there will be an emmigration of Europeans to the ME to run these new and improved democratic/capitalistic economies?

This is a remarkably short-sighted speculation. What about CHINA and INDIA who will have 50% of the world's population within 20 years.

China and India graduate more engineers in a year than the United States graduates in a decade. Both have, in addition to a massive education system, a proven willingness to invest in infrastructure and development, tremendous natural resources, and the combination of a growing leading-edge technology vanguard and a massive base of low wage, large scale industrial and agricultural capacity.

Most Chinese are irreligious (albeit nominally Buddhist, Confuscionist, or state-atheist) and those that aren't are, by and large, Christian. Indians are mostly Hindu but that's really more important as an ethnic unifier across India's many cultures than an actual faith practice with bearing on personal conduct.

Both India and China are emerging from socialism and are embracing capitalism strongly in certain economic segments, and more slowly in others.

Neither India nor China has any use, whatever, either for Western European style socialism/secularlism, nor for Muslim extremism.

Interesting article, interesting comments on the thread. Let's examine the cultures that are candidates for the future:

1. Islam - Their culture does not support the fast paced learning and innovation that is necessary in a modern society. One half of their talent is in seraglio. They cannot compete with the West except through terrorism and violence. They will be defeated in the war on terror and lose their appeal to the young. Further, the women will eventually move out from control of the male portion of society and change their culture.

2. Europe - Their socialist model of government has already been invalidated by the collapse of the USSR. They are facing a demographic time bomb in that their populations are aging and will drop precipitously in thirty years. They will not dominate the future.

3. Judeo/American I disagree with Mr. Prager in that there is no evangelization of our culture. It is spread three ways: 1) the government and our people overtly promotes democracy. Democracy is far more prevalent now that prior to the fall of communism. 2) Our entertainment and media dominate the world. Sadly, much of what it portrays is our corruption. 3) Our businesses promote our culture by their success and influence. 4) Christians of all denominations evangelize. Christianity has been the most rapidly growing religion in the world.

The issue in American influence is which will dominate? #2 or #4? If we become more Christian than corrupt, we will dominiate the world even more. If the other prevails, our fall will be great.

4. Chinese - They should dominate the future, but their government is quite unstable. They have harnessed their economy to capitalism which is the antithesis of their communist philosophy. They have openness to the West and the dangerous ideas of freedom and Christianity are already at work. There may be as many as 300 million Christians in house churches in China. The government will fall eventually, with a crash.

5. India - A very interesting mix of modernity and tradition, of Hindi, Muslim, and secular. They are a democratic fairly socialistic state. They too could grasp the future, but I think their internal divisions will keep them down.

6. Bible prophecy - having studied it for 30 years and having believed several wrong predictions about Jesus' return, I will still hazard a guess. The Bible predicts a facist dictatorship in Europe, based upon a union of Church and State. This may be nominally Christian, non-deminational, but headed by Satanic agents. Balancing the European power will be an Asiatic power. The US is mentioned only as being conquered and subjagated. The whole non-Christian system is called Babylon and will be destroyed by the return of Christ. When? No man knows.
