9-11 a Way for “Right-Wing” AEI to Get Hegemony Over Iraq (Garofalo Claims Bush Evil As Saddam)

To Tony Snow's consternation, on Fox News Sunday actress/comedienne Janeane Garofalo spouted the most far-left of the far-left conspiracy theories as she claimed that “9-11 has been a way to reinvigorate the plan that the right-wingers and the ideologues and people like people at the American Enterprise Institute and Wolfowitz" have to bring “hegemony” over Iraq and to extract its wealth.

A right wing conspiracy involving the barely right of center American Enterprise Institute?

Garofalo made a similar claim about the all-powerful AEI during her February 20 appearance on MSNBC. In that interview, the February 21 CyberAlert reported, she charged that President George W. Bush is just as big a “threat to world peace” as is Saddam Hussein. Asked by Mike Barnicle whether she considers Bush or Hussein to be “a bigger threat to world peace?”, Garofalo maintained: “I say at this point, for different reasons, they are both very threatening to world peace and to deny that is to be incredibly naive.” Details, plus a RealPlayer clip:

Three days later, MRC analyst Patrick Gregory observed this exchange on the February 23 Fox News Sunday:

Garofalo: "I would say that it has been the idea since 1990, '91 to go into Iraq and to have hegemony over the region, redraw the map; oil is a part of it, not all of it. But this is, but 9/11 has been a way to reinvigorate the plan that the right-wingers and the ideologues and people like people at the American Enterprise Institute and [Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul] Wolfowitz-"
Snow: "Well, ok, whoa, whoa, whoa. This seems highly fanciful. Go in, occupy the region and redraw the map?"
Garofalo: "Yeah. Oh, don't pretend that this is like some crazy conspiracy theory and I'm-"
Snow: "Well, but it strikes me as a little far-fetched. I mean, the British tried to do it in the beginning of the century."
     Garofalo: "Well, what is far-fetched-"
     Snow: "But you-"
Garofalo: "What is far-fetched about wanting hegemony over the region? Since the 1940s, American diplomats and government people have been very vocal about the fact that there is a lot of wealth to be obtained in that area and it behooves anyone to be in charge of that area."

This morning, I just noticed, FNC's Fox Friends ended with another session of ranting from Garofalo.

I hope the MRC can provide a transcript of this as well. Lets face the fact that CRAZY people are FUN to watch.

She seems very upset that she was not geeting the 'rump osculation' she is acustomed to receiving. Her rants about Fox news were pretty funny. Definatly a case of 'what I say must be taken seriously because I have been on TV playing a serious person'.

Have to agree. I get a great laugh out of her. She's a hoot.

Has anyone asked her to define ~Hegemony~ yet?

Garofalo is funnier when trying to be serious than when she tries to be funny. Like they say, crazy people are FUN to watch!

Her ideas have some basis, no fact or logic, but basis.

I like when she said that it just "wasn't hip" to protest ex-President Clinton's foreign policy.

Ask her why we didn't impose our "hegemony" after the first Gulf War.

That was answered by a war protester last weekend.
Something like "because we probably didn't have a damn bastard for a president then".

Call me out of it, but who in the h*ll is Garofalo? I haven't a clue and keep reading about her.

If Tony Snow could actually think on his feet, he could have sent her into a fit of stammering, stuttering, and red-faced embarrassment by asking Garofalo why she singled out Wolfowitz "Are you saying this is a Jewish conspiracy, Janeane?" She wouldn't know what to do!

Just a sorta-been entertainer who is reaching the age where she is beginning to realize no man will have her.
She channels her bitterness into furthering the "Men:Bad, Womyn:good" agenda. Her, and folk like her, believe that white males are the root cause of all the worlds problems.

"What was/is she in? Any shows I may have heard of?"

She was in "The Truth About Cats and Dogs."

She actually did a pretty good job, but then, she was just following the script of a good writer, Audrey Wells.

Fine point.

We know who's script she's following now....and it is the script of the Communist Party.

We know that there are a lot of out-and-out communists in the movie business. What I've never understood is just how much the actors have to kowtow to the communist line in order to get into and stay in their good graces. If they don't really believe what they say, we'd never know it.
