Democratic presidential candidate Al Sharpton's role as an African-American power-broker came under light-hearted attack last night from a black civil-rights organization.

In a spirited-but-friendly debate with Congress of Racial Equality spokesman Niger Innis, Sharpton said that he would expand the Democratic Party, much as Jesse Jackson did when he ran in the 1980s.

I've gotta give it to Sharpton. The man is pretty quick on his feet. Between that comment and the times he was mad about getting bugged regarding Tawana Brawley he deserves props.

I think Sharpton is going to give the other Dim candidates a run for their money.
