The UK Government has spelled out the timetable likely to lead to war against Saddam Hussein. In the clearest terms so far expressed, the prime minister's official spokesman said there would be a "window" for Iraq to fall in line between now and a vote on a new United Nations resolution.
And in a government motion to be put before MPs Iraq is also urged to recognise it is facing its "final opportunity" to disarm itself of its weapons of mass destruction...

"This has descended into the lowest depths of absurdity and nonsense." Quite true. One can only hope that our boys needed the time to prepare anyhow. The drivel is unbearable.

whatever happened to "weeks not months" ??
To: Dog
So if we go to war in a month instead of two weeks, Blair will win reelection? What's your point?
To: MatthewViti
whatever happened to "game over"?
To: MatthewViti
It's still weeks.......not months.

This *timetable* has nothing to do with the UN or any resolution...this is just a diplomatic game by the US and UK.
The war timetable has been moved back by Turkey dragging its feet.
The military needs this time to off-load equipment, supplies and troops and get them to the Turkey-Iraqi border.....

Do you want us to launch an attack without all our forces intact??
I agree with you. Let's be patient. We will be much better off diplomatically later on with exhausting our UN option now.
To: mystery-ak
I think you're absolutely correct. Diplomacy is not driving the timetable -- the readiness of the U.S. military is. When the commanders say they're ready, we'll go.

My point is do a little research and see what happened to Maggie Thatcher when she had a revolt in her party at the beginning of Desert Storm....she didn't survive out the war. John Major became PM.
Now imagine Blair forced out...remember we are talking about the Labor Party(Left wing wackos) and they chose a PM so far out in left field he orders the withdrawal of all British forces from the Gulf.
Think we would still go into Iraq??
The second resolution is to give Blair the cover he needs to survive a challenge on the day we invade Iraq!

We would have never have put forward a second resolution if we knew we didn't have the votes for it to pass.
We have the votes...

Well, we needed a resolution to find him failing that resolution. Then, we can take action with U.N. support.
To: Dog
I'm with you on this one...we are still waiting for 40,000 troops to deploy in Turkey...that is not chump change.
There are only two other reasons you could infer from the lack of willingness on Bush's part to proceed.....
1. We are not really afraid of Saddam and can afford to take the time....Hhhmmmm I doubt that is the case
2. We are really afraid to act because we are afraid of Saddam's ability to retaliate and therefore we are bluffing....Hhhmmm, do you all really think we have deployed 150,000 troops and have damn near made the island of Diego Garcia sink because of all the stuff we have on it to bluff this guy? Maybe, but.......
I think we are just making damn sure we can kill this guy off once and for all. Sure we will take on the risk of new terrorism, but we are just making militarily sure that we can get this done right this time......my dad always used to say...if you are going to kill the king, make sure he is dead.....
To: MatthewViti
Until it becomes 2 months, it still has not reached the "months" stage.
To: irish guard
March 7th to 10th is the time frame I think we are shooting for...
Blix's report is over with....and those 40,000 troops and equipment about to unload in Turkey will be in place..

Those crying that Bush is not "acting fast enough" are the same ones that complained he wasn't doing enough during the FLoriduh recount, the Chinese fly by and beginning the war in Afghanistan
You are just like the democrats, you totally underestimate this man. He will once again show you all up and I expect apologies (But I will not hold my breath)!

BBC and the Guardian have even less believability than Reuters or the NY Slimes.
I'm sure that Tony and GW called the left wing socialist and pro Islamofacist BBC in to to tell them when and where we will attack! Anyone who believes in this swill, should contact me to buy some bridges in NYC and the San Francisco area.

Agreed...Turkey was a bit of a problem and their delay seemed to fill Blair's need to seek political cover at the same time.
As for us being afraid, I believe we will find that our "friend" Saddam has all the evil things we claim he does and the Democrats and peaceniks are going to appear very stupid in the end.
