When your "very large dog" has fleas you do whatever you can to get rid of them. You don't transfer them to another part of the dog and hope no one notices. You also don't appoint fleas to help you make these decisions.

All Christian churches, not just the Catholic Church, have fleas, lots of them.

The media only prefers to see the Catholic fleas.

But anyone with any knowledge of these kinds of scandals knows damn well there's just as many fleas, if not more, in other churches, despite the silence.

My statement applies to all churches. If you know of other churches actively protecting criminals you should post that here unless you have already contacted the police. I can't think of a better place to start. I do see news articles describing criminal acts committed by people in "other" churches. I don't recall seeing any mention of those church's officials covering up or otherwise protecting the criminals.

Here we go again

Isn't it marvelous that one's mind can be so manipulated that after almost a lifetime, cajoling can bring about the desired result...Mind you, I acknowledge there is always a " rotten apple" in each basket--but let's proceed with a little caution. If the hierachy is doing it's own investigation why not let them continue. Let them decide each case whether fact or gossip. I hate to say this, but there are many lay people in the Church who perhaps have been slighted for some reason or other and look for that opportunity to seek a revenge of sorts. I know I will be ridiculed for saying this BUT "have compassion for the sin and the sinner for we do not know that we may some day walk in those very same shoes".

Would you add me to your ping list? Thanks.

Sorry, but Protestants don't have the allegiance to authority that Catholics have. It's the reason more Catholic countries are run by dictators than Protestant countries. We have as much evil in our churches, but the ability to "get away with it" is lessened by a weaker belief in hierarchy.
