SECURITY services are desperately trying to trace a gang of terrorists armed with shoulder-launched missiles they had tracked across Europe - but lost as they approached Britain.

Members of the al-Qaeda terror cell had been identified by GCHQ, Britain's secret eavesdropping centre, but when they disappeared the Government ordered the unprecedented security blanket around Heathrow.

Intelligence experts managed to listen into communications between an al-Qaeda activist in the Balkans and a unit based in London.

They learnt that a cargo of four Sam-7 missiles - capable of shooting down a passenger jet - had been driven on a lorry across the Continent and smuggled through Dover.

The security forces also discovered that the terrorists had obtained a consignment of AK-47 machine guns, which can spray hundreds of rounds per minute.

Most of the mititary powers have some form of shoulder mounted anti aircraft missle. They never said the missles didn't exist, only that missles were not used to down the plane.

That isn't what was reported. It was clearly reported that no shoulder fired missle could reach 10,000 feet.

In this treatise Izetbegovic offers his "vision" for Bosnia and the Muslim world. Here I will selectively quote few passages from the 1990 edition (which he never renounced) on issues that the western press choose to ignore, perhaps fearing that the American people might understand why the Serbs fight on.

"The Islamic movement," Izetbegovic assured us, "can and should take over power as soon as it is morally and numerically strong enough to be able to overturn not only the existing non-Islamic government [of Bosnia] but also to build a new Islamic one." (p. 56). For the Serbs this meant that when Muslims reach 51% percent of the population in Bosnia in short six years, given their birth rate and other means. The Islamic order which would follow this overturn is defined as " a unity of religion and law, upbringing and power, ideal and interest." (p. 26). In this new order citizenship, too, is given an Islamic bend. "In the Muslim world," Izetbegovic admonishes, "there is no patriotism without Islam." (p. 64) In short, in this ideal state, the only way left for the Serbs to be considered full citizens and "patriots" would have been conversion to Islam. That is what their ancestors did in 16th century to please the Sultan and earn the right to own Orthodox Christian serfs and append the suffix "-bey" to their last names. Finally, in Izetbegovic's "Islamic order" separation of doctrine and faith from politics has no place. "There can be neither peace nor co-existance between the Islamic religion and the non-Islamic social and political institutions." (p. 30)

The Islamic Declaration

Alija Izetbegovic is a dictator: His presidential term expired in December 1990. Then he broke the (valid until 1995) constitution of Bosnia according to which President of Presidency changes after one year, with longest term beeing two years.

While the SA-7 is an effective MANPADS missile versus a lumbering passenger jet, it still lacks the sophistication of American third generation Stinger missiles -- the preferred weapon for knocking down planes. Where the SA-7 excels is in shooting down choppers -- Chechen freedom fighters having perfected a tactical doctrine that employs multiple launches triangulated around pre-set vectors.

The Chechens have had many successes versus the Russians the last few years with this approach. The Brits need to be on alert for chopper-borne senior military or high-ranking political leaders being shot down by this Islamic entente team. Heat flares and evasive maneuvers have been ineffective against this crude missile when fired in the "Chechen hook" combination.

Tony Blair's chopper security very simplistic in Britain. The Prime Minister's security team seems to forget that these missiles can be employed from tall buildings with great effect -- thus increasing the danger zone for perimeter security defence.

Tony Blair the most critical component of the Anglo-American alliance now. If the Islamic entente shoots him down it will be a catastrophe, and with four near-simultaneous shots they will succeed if in the right place at the right time -- regardless of pilot training or advanced ECM. The Prime Minister's security team should suspend Blair's chopper travel until this assault element is neutralised.

Amazingly -- with a week before the balloon goes up -- the Islamic entente holds a stronger hand in World War III than a month ago. The US is managing to fritter away a tremendous early advantage -- president Bush must launch the "Hasty Mobilisation" attack scenario per schedule...

Otherwise the war may be lost before the West pulls the trigger...
