Dubya has repeatedly stated that terrorists are not true Muslims that Islam is at heart a peaceful religion. Just because the Quran says:
"kill the disbelievers wherever we find them" (2:191);
"fight and slay the Pagans, seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem" (9:5);
"slay or crucify or cut the hands and feet of the unbelievers, that they be expelled from the land with disgrace and that they shall have a great punishment in world hereafter" (5:34)
and other little jewels of militant theology is no reason folks should get xenophobic and do something practical like profiling at airports, just because the 9-11 hijackers were all young Arab men instead of 80 year-old grannies in wheel chairs or nursing mothers with possible Weapons of Mass Destruction disguised as bottles of breast milk for their junior-grade terrorists.
It really makes you wonder if Dubya has ka-ka for brains when he invited Sami Al-Arian to the White House, who said, "Jihad is our path. Victory to Islam. Death to Israel. Revolution until victory. Rolling to Jerusalem." --Sami Al-Arian, Cleveland, 1998.
A video shows Al-Arian uttering such peace-loving jewels, as "Let us damn America. Let us damn their allies until death. Why do we stop?"
Standing under Islamic Jihad banners, Al-Arian expounded on his views of Christianity and Judaism: God warns us in the Koran and he cursed them. He cursed those who are the sons of Israel through David and Jesus, the Son of Mary, because of their disobedience and they used to assail, they were not held back by any prohibition they committed. Those people God made monkeys and pigs.
Now, Dubya has repeatedly put American dissidents and folks that plain just don't like his politics back in the North 40. Either his survival instincts are lousy, or it is pure politics to let a man like Al-Arian and his son, Big Dude (Dubya's nickname) within spitting distance of him. Either way, the Feds have known about Al-Arian for a very long time and he is just now getting busted. Do you feel safer?
Clue #1: english as a Second Language.
Clue #2: intolerant of others including Muslims
Clue #3: hates President Bush
Clue #4: claims to be from Indiana
Clue #5: "Sky Pilot"
Did Mohammed Atta tell you you weren't smart enough and he went with the other 19 trainees instead?
That's the real issue, you never know what he's thinking until he speaks. No one can predict his next move and it's bugging the heck out of many.
America's fight is not against Islam. It's against individuals who have gathered with a purpose to kill innocent lives. It doesn't matter what religious banner they choose to kill under.
If you insist on keeping the argument on Islam you will, as many have already, distort the real issue. Hopefully we've all agreed that we are not going after innocent lives who practice a particular religion.
Clue: look at how you have comported yourself on this thread. Then go read a few of the President's speeches. Perhaps the light bulb will come on.
Until then, I would remind you that Dan Burton represents a sizable portion of Indianapolis, and gets elected by landslide margins. I suppose that you think that non-Indianapolis areas are more conservative...like Lake County and Evansville.
I need to leave this edifying discussion. I will return later this evening.
Then in reply to Miss Marple's I'm not your sister.
You said: I am sooo glad!
Yours is one gene pool one into which one does not want to take a dip.
So, friend, not calling you a fool, but by your own words, did you run out of logic?
BTW, I agree with Miss Marples about Dubya. Far better than anyone else I can think to run the government. Don't agree with him all the time, but I think he's a great President.
You have badmouth Miss Marple's place of residence,
you have namecalled RobfromGA.
We can see consistency is not one of your strengths.
You should probably listen to your own advice unless you like making a fool out of yourself.
Actually, that is the game.
Nya, nya, nya....
Too bad they don't like you back, eh? It's tough being fat, smelly and stupid, isn't it?
Present tense when past tense is called for. Read a book.
You have namecalled....
Just got off the boat, did we? Let me guess, the only English you know is, "Welfare" or "you treat me free..."
I repeat, read a book. Or use grammarcheck before you post.
It really doesn't matter what you think a faithful Muslim is. The fact stands that many Muslims do not read the Koran as commanding violence.
I guess I was getting my hopes up after 80 years of darkness that we might be getting someone in office who was committed to Right.
True commitment to Right isn't an option. You can't choose when you're going to tell the truth. It doesn't work that way.
True Christians cannot endorse one who endorses a) homosexual perversion which is condemned by God (Romans 1:26ff) and b) endorsing false religion as valid (Mat. 15:9).
The third category, illegal immigration, isn't a matter of theology, just common sense. And it doesn't make sense to allow our country to be overrun by immigrants. Nor does it make sense to intimate that they might receive amnesty.
