Posted on 02/21/2003 7:20:52 AM PST by LonePalm

I just turned and looked out my office window and saw a column of black smoke rising towards Union Beach/Perth Amboy NJ.

I then felt the force of an explosion rattle my window.

Yeah - watching it. This will not be easy to put out. There are a lot of tanks sitting there nearby.... So far a lot of the fire is on the water.... maybe they can keep it that way, but I don't see how.

Doesn't it look like that other tanker is catching fire, and the shoreline as well?

Reminds me of the Exxon refinery explosion (Elizabeth NJ) of about 20 years ago. That was an accident and the blast was felt for many miles.

Yea, it looks like this might not be that bad. The fire is on the water and seems to reducing in size.

Right now the more fuel that burns the better it is for the enviroment? Less long term damage?
