I just turned and looked out my office window and saw a column of black smoke rising towards Union Beach/Perth Amboy NJ.
I then felt the force of an explosion rattle my window.

I think terrorists are after something that has their signature on it.Also, a big body count.

Could it be caused by:
The owners, to collect the insurance?
Terrorists, to hurt the US?
Peace activists, to hurt the US?

Screen shots from the news, anyone? I hear a bunch of choppers overhead here in southwest CT, probably news people heading there.

For those without TV right now, there's live video on MSNBC (sorry no fox):

Then click the box on the right, "Explosion in Statan Island."

That is one big damn fire.
55 thousand gallons of gasoline? I could drive my giant car at least a year on that!

Yes the night clubs are due to ignorance, but what i'm talking about is the big industrial fires. Theres another one that happened about an hour ago, I think somethings amiss. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.
To: JimRed
A terrorist/Al-Queda scenario would be to start this and suck resources away from Manhattan and then strike with a bigger hit.
To: AppyPappy
Isn't this the 2nd fire at oil refinerys in last few weeks?
To: Centurion2000
It does seem too coincidental that these tragedies - in Chicago, Rhode Island, Newark - all have occurred within the past week.

NYC is unaffected, things were more tense a week ago during the infamous 'duct tape' scare. But at this point we're all turning into honorary Israelis.
New Yorkers are bullheaded and tough - we do not scare easily.

1,000,000 gallons on the barge is what the expert on Fox is saying. Also said it looks like the barge was being loaded when something went wrong.
