What is your favorite Movie? (Vanity)

Posted on 02/20/2003 4:00:09 PM PST by ezo4

I’m sitting here after work and pulled out the “Last of the Mohicans” and I’m wondering what my fellow freepers like for there favorite movies. I would like more for my collection of dvd’s. Current and older movies? Doesn’t matter what it is.

Just a little break from the daily news and politics.

I have quite a few that I like and I’m looking for more. Hit me back

Babette's Feast:

That's one I didn't expect to see on FR. One of my family's favorites also. Perhaps better rememembered than seen. Only for people who watch the food channel.

"The Last of The Mohicans" is one of my all-time favorite movies and I agree with others who replied to your post on many other titles. ("It's A Wonderful Life", "A Beautiful Mind", for example) I'll even admit to appreciating the movie "Yentl." :-)

It's hard to have an absolute favorite, so here's my list of some of my favorites:

LOL - I loved "Raising Arizona". (Man, now I'll have that little yodeling thing stuck in my head for the rest of the night.)

"This is Spinal Tap" is still my all-time favorite.

Beyond that, "Life is Beautiful", "Saving Private Ryan" and "The Patriot" probably top my list...and I almost forgot about "My Life As A Dog".

Braveheart, all of the Nat'l Lampoon Vacation movies, Bloodsport, Top Gun, GI Jane, Dragonheart, Dante's Peak, Neverending Story and just about any decent "sword and sorcery" type fantasy movie....which seem to have become rather unpopular since the late 80s. </asbestos>

I am somewhat embarrassed to say so, but I have to add Dumb and Dumber to my list also. I tend to be a serious person, so sometimes I need movies like that...and while somewhat risque, it was FUNNY...

Tastes differ; but never has a movie SO thrilled and satisfied me on so many levels -- thematically, aesthetically, emotionally... it's a wonder. I saw it something like 17X in the theater, never done anything like that before. I still don't tire of it.

Now, second place would be a tussle! Quiet Man... Forbidden Planet... Magnificent Seven... Tremors... Alien.... Hard choice.
