Shootout Kills Louisiana Cop, 5 more wounded!

ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - One police officer was killed and five others were wounded Thursday in a shootout that erupted as police tried to arrest a suspect in the ambush of another officer, authorities said.

Police exchanged gunfire with a man who was in a house.

Two of the wounded officers were reported in good and fair condition. The condition of the three other officers was not immediately disclosed.

Officers had been looking for the gunman who opened fire with an assault rifle on a police officer Wednesday. The officer was ambushed while responding to an apparently false report of a robbery. The gunman sprayed the officer's patrol car with bullets, firing about 20 shots.

The officer was not hit.

opened fire with an assault rifle........ The gunman sprayed the officer's patrol car with bullets, firing about 20 shots.

Hmmm...sounds like more liberal puke. What's the truth here - was it a true "assault weapon" which would indicate full-auto fire, or was it a hunting rifle that was reloaded several times? Maybe an SKS or AK-variant? Or could it have been a simple .22 long rifle with a "hot lips" magazine?

The media is so eager to jump on the "assault weapon" theme that they often distort or make up facts.

20 bullets doesn't exactly sound like spraying, unless it was all with one trigger pull and less than 2 seconds.....

A very LARGE part of why I don't miss Louisiana after 14+ years in TEXAS!

When I do "pass through", I try very hard NOT to visit places that were GOOD from 1960~1989 and are now pathogen-infested....I want to remember 'em the way I left 'em..

Well, he used a rifle to assault them - so it's an assault rifle.

The police chief in an interview said it was an "automatic weapon." For whatever that's worth.

do you know the history of taps... a union officer's son, who fought for the confederates, was killed and his father found a song the boy had written... his officer would not allow a full military band to honor the rebel, only a solitary bugle...

some things are meant to be... this is how i heard it.... will look it up to make sure it is legit...

How sad... Can't wait for Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, or one of these other morons to show up and protest AGAINST police violence when the violence is being perpetrated against the police.
