Tribune Series Exposed USF Ties To Terrorism
TAMPA - In 1995, The Tampa Tribune published a series about "a nonprofit organization that helps raise money in the name of two groups that claim responsibility for bombings that have killed hundreds in Israel and around the world." The head of that organization? USF professor Sami Al-Arian. Read the 1995 series below.

Not that I dont think alArian shouldnt have been fired years ago,but I think you are barking up the wrong tree trying to blame the current USF head honcho.
I live in the Tampa area and the frustration level about this guy has been huge for years in this community. They education mafia around here not only solidly backed this terrorist, they threatened massive national retaliation when the new USF head, I forget her name, inherited this situation, she forced him off campus, and called the cops when he showed up on campus.
No support from the FBI or any other LEOs was forthcoming, although she begged for an indictment from anyone! Tenure seems to mean untouchable in academia.
Jesse Jackson could probably learn a few new tricks from the Islamic shakedown artists.Under cover of law, and the magicial mystical world of academic "tenure", this terrorist, and many just like him nationwide, are deeply entrenched fifth columnists, and worse.
Our governor, Jeb Bush, has forced through many changes in the "higher education" hiearchy in the past few years in an attempt to bring some semblance of sanity to the multi-billion dollar education cartel, and has been mostly thwarted by liberal elected officials.Florida voters tossed many of them out of office, but changing state laws is not done overnight.
The alternative option, vigilante justice, has also been thwarted.Just ask our jailed local dentist who had plans to blow up all local muslim mosques and the stored firepower to do so in his condo.
We are living in a pressure cooker around here, and if it blows, the repercussions will make the civil war look like a picnic.

MODELING, TESTING, AND FAULT MASKING IN CMOS NETWORKS (NON-CLASSICAL, STUCK-OPEN) |

Abstract: |
As CMOS has emerged as an important technology for VLSI, testing of large CMOS networks has become a crucial issue. This dissertation considers all possible physical failures in different CMOS cells and shows their effect in terms of logical faults. The existence of such a correspondence is verified by simulation results and a transistor level fault model is given. To make the test process simpler, a comprehensive fault model of CMOS gates wherein CMOS s-op faults are transformed into classical TTL s-at faults, has been obtained. This transformation makes testing of CMOS combinational circuits as equivalent to testing of transformed TTL sequential circuits. This model has also been used in conjuction with the property of fault-dominance along a path from the primary input(s) to the output(s) to test for multiple classical and/or non-classical faults.
In addition, the fault model is used in identifying a procedure for testing CMOS sequential circuits designed with LSSD technique. A test sequence for detecting MS D FF is obtained. Three algorithms are also given for error detection and correction in both logical and arithmetical operations. In short, this dissertation describes the three major areas in CMOS testability analysis: modeling at the transistor and functional level, testing classical and non-classical faults in both combinational and sequential circuits, and fault masking in bit-sliced ALU's. Several examples are included to illustrate the versatility and usefulness of our fault models and the testing algorithms.

From what I was able to understand from Ashcroft & the various talking heads, what enabled the prosecution was the 1996 anti-terrorism law, the Patriot Act AND that the CIA & FBI can exchange information. Without all three, Sami would still be correcting papers.

This is good information. I found indications that the FBI had suspicions about this guy as early as '98 but I didn't look beyond the first page of finds. This gives a pretty clear indication that the Clinton administration turned a blind eye to the terrorism.

Here's the update from the Tampa Tribune. They've got a whole section on it, as well they should--they broke the story.
Name: Sami Al-Arian, 45 Background: Born in Kuwait, a resident of Temple Terrace and a tenured University of South Florida computer science professor. President of the Islamic Committee for Palestine, which an Al-Arian associate publicly described in 1991 as "the active arm of the Islamic Jihad movement in Palestine." Incorporated the World and Islam Studies Enterprise (WISE), an Islamic think tank that worked with a USF faculty group to organize seminars and share libraries. Israeli officials say Al-Arian helped create and then served on a governing board for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ); Al-Arian denies it.
Name: Sameeh Hammoudeh, 42 Background: Born in the West Bank, a resident of Temple Terrace and an instructor at USF. He was a former graduate student at USF who was sponsored by WISE. While a student he conducted research with the political science faculty. Hammoudeh was also an administrator at the Islamic Academy of Florida. He was an alleged member of the PIJ in the Tampa area.
Name: Hatim Naji Fariz, 30 Background: Born in Puerto Rico, a resident of Spring Hill and a manager for a medical clinic. Fariz was an alleged PIJ member and he allegedly ran an Illinois-based charity called the American Muslim Care Network.
Name: Ghassan Zayed Ballut, 41 Background: Born in the West Bank, a resident of Tinley Park, Ill. and a small business owner. Ballut was an alleged member of a PIJ cell in Chicago. Ballut reserved an auditorium for a 1991 rally to memorialize a gunfight four years earlier between Islamic Jihad fighters and Israelis that ignited the Palestinian intifada against Israel. The Islamic Jihad's spiritual leader, Abdel Aziz Odeh, appeared at the rally where Ballut said, "May our guns be pointed one way
to the chest of the enemy.'' During a 1998 grand jury appearance in Tampa, he refused to answer questions, his attorney said.
Name: Ramadan Abdullah Shallah, 45 Background: Born in the Gaza Strip, a resident of Damascus, Syria, Shallah is the current worldwide leader of the PIJ and a member of the PIJ's Shura Council. Shallah, formerly of Tampa, worked with Al-Arian in the Islamic Committee for Palestine and was the former executive director of WISE. He taught Middle East studies as an adjunct professor at USF six months prior to his appointment as leader of the Islamic Jihad. Shallah was appointed secretary general of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in October 1995. By November, he was designated by the United States as a Specially Designated Terrorist.
Name: Bashir Musa Mohammed Nafi, 50 Background: Born in Egypt, a resident of Oxfordshire, England and a professor at Muslim College teaching history and Islamic studies. Nafi was a former WISE researcher. A 1995 U.S. search warrant described Nafi as a "significant leading member" of the Islamic Jihad. He wrote much of the group's early ideology. Israeli officials claim while Nafi lived in England in the late 1980s he was a communications link between terrorists in the field and the Islamic Jihad's headquarters in Syria. He adamantly denies ever being involved with the Islamic Jihad. In 1996 Nafi was deported from the United States back to England for visa violations.
Name: Mohammed Tasir Hassan Al-Khatib, 46 Background: Born in the Gaza Strip, a resident in the Beirut, Lebanon, he is Al-Arian's brother-in-law. He was formerly associated with the ICP in Tampa. The government says he was treasurer of the Islamic Jihad and a member of the Shura Council, the terrorist group's central advisory committee.
Name: Abd Al Aziz Awda, 52 Background: Born in Gabaly, Israel, a resident of the Gaza Strip and Imam of the Al Qassam Mosque in the Gaza Strip. Awda, also known as Abdel Aziz-Odeh, was a founder and spiritual leader of the PIJ and a member of the Shura Council. He helped the Islamic Jihad gain followers through his preaching at the Al-Qassam mosque in the Gaza Strip. In January 1995, Awda was designated by the United States as a specially designated terrorist. He is believed to have left the movement in the late 1990s in a disagreement with the group's leadership.

Gee, it looks like he took a break from his scholarly activities in 1995 and 1998. Maybe he was just preoccupied with something else.

Ah, Sami was too busy hiding from the press and helping his brother stay in the US.
I'll have to check the indictment, but there are references to the Sudan. When was bin Laden in the Sudan?

Page 32: (62) On or about March 6, 1994, SAMI AMIN AL-ARIAN engaged in a telephone conversation with Unindicted Co-Conspirator One in which SAMI AMIN ALARIAN described returning from Chicago after raising $53,000.00, $25,000.00 of which was collected in cash. SAMI AMIN AL-ARIAN also discussed the organization of a committee to raise funds and the status of "martyrs" families in the Occupied Territories. SAMI AMIN AL-ARIAN and Unindicted Co-Conspirator One spoke about someone returning from a fund-raising trip in the Sudan.Guess who was in the Sudan in 1994--yup, Osama bin Laden. He was there for about five years, leaving in 1996.

Thanks to the Tampa Tribune and the current Administration one more terrorist cell operating in the US is exposed and shut down.
If this was first reported in 1995, why has it taken so long for our government to investigate and indict? (I know the answer but want to see if anyone is listening).
Finally, where was the liberal rag St. Petersburg Times on this story?
Excellent job Tampa Tribune!

FIRE GENSHAFT
The leadership at USF lacks balls!
It is insane to think a state supported school, run by the people are afraid, talking about political correctness and lawyers and fear of lawsuits running policy!
There has to be something deeper here, like death threats or fear of some sort???

Yeah, my dad heard that too. I think those agents are sympathizers and ought to be canned or indicted for deriliction of duty, or whatever the FBI uses to fry wayward agents.
