Tribune Series Exposed USF Ties To Terrorism
TAMPA - In 1995, The Tampa Tribune published a series about "a nonprofit organization that helps raise money in the name of two groups that claim responsibility for bombings that have killed hundreds in Israel and around the world." The head of that organization? USF professor Sami Al-Arian. Read the 1995 series below.

Contrast this series to the hit piece in Salon--the Salon piece appears to be ghost-written by CAIR.
This gives a good background to Sami al-Arian. I'm glad the Tampa Tribune put it on their webiste.

Interesting paragraph from today's indictment:
16. The defendants and PIJ [Palestinian Islamic Jihad] utilized the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida, (hereinafter referred to as "USF") as an institution where some of their members could receive cover as teachers or students. Additionally, USF was utilized by PIJ as their instrumentality through which the co-conspirators could bring other PIJ members and associates into the United States under the guise of academic conferences and meetings.

I saw someone on televison earlier talking about the details in the indictment and that he was learning a lot that he didn't know. The station, MSNBC I think, was featuring him as an expert in the ME terriorist groups.
He said he was to page 120 and was still reading....

Read into the indictment further. That's exactly what they did. It's good cover and enmeshing the PIJ's activities with "academic freedom."

If he had reddish hair, it was Steve Emerson--and he's an expert on these things, especially al-Arian. I was stunned at some of the allegations in the indictment myself.
