The son of a big-bucks lottery winner from Queens fatally shot a would-be burglar trying to break into his mom's house to steal her loot, cops said yesterday.

Shaken mom Grecia Guitterez then desperately tried to protect her son, whose gun was unlicensed, by wiping the weapon clean afterward and attempting to hide it, authorities said.

I heard this reported on the news earlier and according to that report the son was a member of the armed services. I don't remember which branch.

Guitterez had better move to other digs. Corona isn't safe.

Yes, aside from Ben Faremo's, the Parkside and the Pork Store, Corona has degenerated into one of the worst slums in Queens. To add insult to injury is the monstrosity known as Lefrak City located in the southern end.

Sounds like NY is almost as bad as England. I guess it would have been better to let the burglar kill them.

I think they goofed on the title. It should read:

Video Equipment Used to Nab Gun Law Criminal Suspect

or maybe better

Disarmed Rich Woman Awaits Next Home Robbery Attempt

Yeah THAT should do it right: next time, cops will be hosing the blood off the floor, the way they apparently prefer.

Speaking in Spanish, Farquez ordered the Hispanic man to drop his gun. When the intruder didn't, Farquez fired once, killing the man with a shot to the head, Mekeel said.

Good shot!
