FREEPERS - MARTIN SHEEN wants YOU to CALL WASHINGTON 02/26/03 and TELL THEM WHAT YOU THINK!

FREEPERS! Martin Sheen of the West Wing is calling for volunteers to shut down Washington DC February 26, 2003 with an e-mail, fax and call-in campaign. He wants the American people to tell Washington WHAT WE REALLY THINK!. Hey, FREEPERS can do that. Sign up for a time slot and help out! Here's the call from their website -

"Virtual March on Washington Headquarters Welcome. MoveOn.org is hosting the online headquarters for the Virtual March on Washington on February 26th, sponsored by the Win Without War Coalition.

Please join us NOW for the march.

On February 26th, every Senate office will receive a call every minute from a constituent, as they receive a simultaneous flood of faxes and e-mail. Hundreds of thousands of people from across the country will send the collective message: Don't Attack Iraq. Every Senate switchboard will be lit up throughout the day with our message -- a powerful reminder of the breadth and depth of opposition to a war in Iraq. And on that day, "antiwar rooms" in Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles will highlight the day's progress for the national media, while local media can visit the "antiwar room" online to monitor this constituent march throughout the day.

We need your help NOW to make the Virtual March a reality. You can (1) prepare a free fax for transmission on the day of the march, and (2) register to make phone calls to Congress on the day of the march below. We're lining people up for every minute of the day in every state. Faxes are very easy and phone calls are the most effective. Do both or do whatever you can."

FREEPERS, don't want to sign up and do your part? During this time of war and crisis, they want people to shut down Washington DC and TELL THE GOVERNMENT WHAT WE REALLY THINK. Of course, FREEPERS, let's SIGN UP with Win Without War and volunteer to TELL THE GOVERNMENT WHAT WE REALLY THINK.

Also, it would be very supportive if, on that day, at the very times we were signed up to make our virtual march, every Freeper were to email, fax, and call Moveon.org, and "Win Without War"to tell THEM what we really think...

LittleGreenFootballs suggests the following counterprotest to Sheen's scheme:

Sign up for this virtual march and then do nothing on Feb. 26th. Their goal is one email or fax per minute sent to each member of congress to protest the possible war. So protest the protest and take a slot away from a "useful idiot."

Does Ramon Estevez mean Dubya's Washington, or his "Washington"?

because it lets you "REVISE" the petition to have it say what you want - and they will go ahead and fax it and email it for you...

Use a dummy name and change the 'wording'.

I have already sent the President and Tony Blair 2 emails in the last week. They already know how I feel.

This group - Win Without War - is nothing more than another socialist group and I have no intention of having my name associated with them in any way.

"...it lets you "REVISE" the petition to have it say what you want - and they will go ahead and fax it and email it for you..."

Hmmmmmm, I did so but look at the return e-mail I gotin response.

The Virtual March on Washington is a first-of-its-kind group effort from the Win Without War coalition. Working together, we'll direct a steady stream of phone calls -- about one per minute, all day

-- to every Senate office in the country, while at the same time delivering a constant stream of emails and faxes. Think of it like a march

-- one by one, we'll be passing through our Senators' offices and the offices of the White House to let them know how we feel about this war.

Like a normal march, the success of this campaign depends on how many people participate. All you need to do is make three phone calls

-- it won't take more than 15 minutes of your time. But together with tens of thousands of others, it'll make a huge impression:

on February 26th, in every Senate office and in the White House, the phones will be ringing off their hooks. If you can't make calls on the 26th you can still register today to send free faxes. We'll hold them for you until the 26th

You can sign up for your time to call or place a free fax right now at: http://www.moveon.org/winwithoutwar/

Then forward this to everyone you know who might be interested.

Here's what Tom Andrews, a former Member of Congress and the National Director of the Win Without War Coalition has to say about the February 26th Virtual March: "Believe me, political leaders in Washington will get the message when their phones and fax machines light up -- and stay lit up -- from morning until night. They will know that there are a lot of us, that we care deeply about this unnecessary march to war, and that we are organized. Our message will be heard. But, we absolutely need you to make this work."

Last Saturday, millions of us in hundreds of cities around the world voiced our opposition to a war on Iraq. Please help us bring this dissent to Washington on February 26th, by taking part in the Virtual March.

Sincerely,
Ben

Here's a copy of the letter we'll send to your Senators:

Dear Senator:

I am a constituent of yours and I write today as a participant in Win Without War's Virtual March. I am one of the majority of Americans concerned that President Bush's rush to war is dangerous and unnecessary.

Our nation needs to support tough United Nations inspections. Going to war with Iraq will kill thousands of civilians and soldiers, create an atmosphere that breeds terrorists, and divert money from programs that can really create a safer and more just society.

Please do everything you can to support the inspections process and resist our nation rushing to war.

Sincerely,
(We'll add your name and address here)

Your message below was sent to:

Sen. Mike DeWine
140 Russell Senate Office Building Washington, DC 20510 Dear Senator DeWine,

Sen. George Victor Voinovich
317 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
Dear Senator Voinovich,

I am a constituent of yours and I write today as a participant in Win the War and Kick out Saddam. I am one of the majority of Americans that supports President Bush and his policy to disarm Iraq.

Our nation needs to support our troops and our President. Going to war with Iraq will kill thousands of Iraq soldiers, which is too bad for them, they could surrender quickly like the French and save us all the trouble, but if they don't well then too bad for them.

Please do everything you can to support our President and our troops and tell Tom Daschle to shut up and get with the program. Oh yeah and tell Leahy to shut up and let's get on with the Estrada vote.

Sincerely,

Martin Sheensux

Guys,I am afraid maybe they will have thier message as well as your message in the fax! In other words we will be HELPING them. I do not think we should do this!

to myself,
I have changed my mind. I am not going to do anything on the 26th, but on the 25th I am going to e-mail as many Senators and the White House as I can, saying I support the Pres and Tony Blair. Hey maybe we could sort of burn up the "lines" so it will not work on the 26th.
