"I think France's reason for not backing an invasion of Iraq is that they if the US goes in and forces a regime change, they (the US) will undoubtedly force the new regime into again accepting US dollars for their (Iraqi) oil, instead of the Euro as Iraq started doing in 1998. France stands to lose billions if the switch is made."

I understand Hasbro, Inc. will soon package Euros instead of Monopoly money with their board games.....much cheaper.

I don't think it was in the public domain. I think (but not 100% sure) it was a private report for Stratfor's subscribers.

At any rate, Rush will have it available at his web site by evening.

-- FAN-TASTIC !!!! The Frogs cant lose enough billions to satisfy me. No Euros for Oil!!! Poor Jacques will have to try to bankroll another murderous dictator.

See, this is what I've been saying. I think it is an absolutely perfect reason to go to war, to protect the American dollar as the fiat currency of choice. Since the Euro has gained 22% against the dollar in the last few years, it may be a necessary one as well.

Yet there is a hesitancy on the part of the GOP and neo-conservative mindset to accept oil (or oil currency) as a legitimate reason for war. Why is this?

For all I know, Hasbro may have a European version of Monopoly that has Euros...but only in Europe, probably.

That statement speaks volumes of your lack of intellectual curiosity, as well as your willingness to be led by the nose (much like a cow).

"Think before you speak, my friend. You sound less rabid."

You need to take your own advice. You'll sound less like one of Marx's "useful idiots".

I have news for you buddy --- America's alliances are always changing according to our national security needs, and that includes seeing to it that the world's economies have the free flow of oil at market prices.

MEN understand such realities.

Nothing I like better than a good, vigorous conversation.

Expand your reading and learning if you want the big picture my friend . It works both ways .

Fair enough. Any recommendations?

"Does he bring up the US relationship with Iraq, wherein we provided chemical weapons for their use in the war with Iran?"

I'll believe it if you have an unimpeachable source for this allegation against your country. Secretary Rumsfeld denied it!

I, for one, am NOT hesitant---except that it doesn't really apply here. This is about, now listen closely, WEAPONS of MASS DESTRUCTION in the hands of Al-Quaeda and/or those regimes who support AQ. End of story. All else is fluff.

The one thing that is so ironic... is that this is another case where the hypocrisy of the other side is blatant and yet no one is calling them on it. [Just like Limbaugh has said... just accuse your opponent of what you're doing and with a liberal press, you'll never have it pointed out!]

The left loves to chant 'no blood for money' (of course accusing Americans for getting people killed/killing to get the oil fields).

When in reality ...

it is the French and Germans who are trading human life for the money! Those folks (along with the misguided socialists/liberals in our country) who are willing to put thousands and thousands American lives at risk just so they can make lotsa money via their back-door deals!

Ok. I'll calm down now.... I just wish O'Reilly or Hannity or Limbaugh or someone would point out that yes... there is one group in this debate willing to trade blood for money....

AND IT'S THE FRENCH AND GERMAN GOVERNMENTS!

America's alliances are always changing according to our national security needs...

So because the alliances change, we bury our heads in the sand and ignore that they were ever other than they are now? (Pardon the syntactical nightmare, but you get my drift).

...and that includes seeing to it that the world's economies have the free flow of oil at market prices.

Now we're getting somewhere: while I really don't care "that the world's economies have the free flow of oil at market prices" (the whole notion of a "world economy" is right out of Marx, as you well know), I do fully enforse the notion that the US has to protect her own economic interests, including the supply of oil.

What is un-American about that?).

I therefore fully endorse any move that protects American economic interests, including the protection of the US greenback as the fiat currency of choice. The threat that the dollar will fall by the wayside is a more credible threat to me than Saddam Hussein. And a good reason to go to war.

MEN understand such realities.

You mean, MEN like George Washington, who advised us to mind our own business?
