[history]
The Democrats promise to continue to filibuster Estrada's nomination until the Bush administration delivers all memos that Estrada wrote for the U.S. Solicitor General's Office when he worked there. They say they can't vote without more information.
I'm always for disclosure. The more the better, and Congress has every right to know how the administration is executing laws on, say, the war against terrorism.
But the Democrats' argument is a stretch, and a desperate one at that.

Dear Senator Frist,
I think the #1 issue conservatives will hold you accountable to is getting President Bush's judicial nominees a simple up or down vote. I know that Senators Daschle, Clinton, Schumer, etc are worthy adversaries. However, the majority of Americans DO NOT subscribe to their leftist agenda. Conservative judges, for all of the whining from the media, simply follow the law of ELECTED officials (isn't that what America is supposed to be about it?). Judges are NOT supposed to MAKE law, ie Roe v. Wade. So far I have been impressed with your stint as Senate Majority Leader. But, I know your biggest tests are yet to come. I urge to make Miguel Estrada's confirmation a top priority, despite what People for the American Way may say!
Thank you for your service,

President Bush deserves an up or down vote on his judicial nominees. Estrada was nominated almost 2 years ago. Estrada deserves a vote. Liberal US Senators are hiding with war in the news, essentially running a sham filibuster.
EVERY ONE, ESP FLORIDA FREEPERS, call Sen Bill Nelson. Phone: 202-224-5274 Fax: 202-228-2183

Let's put the heat on Bob Graham too. How can this man seriously consider running for President while he lacks the political courage to take a stand (ANY stand) on Estrada?
Time to give Bob Graham a FREEP! Phone (202) 224-3041 -- Fax (202) 224-2237

Yes they are playing a dangerous game as their leftist ideals are not the majority. Many women have awakenened to the pro-"Choice" propaganda.
There is a up to $500.00 (not to exceed ever $25,000) fine to any one that kills an 'endangered' fox, or upsets/touches certain turtle nest eggs along our shores. Under the detailed listings of the federal Endangered Species Act.
There is a $350.00 to $500.00 'amount due' to kill the human species. (AKA abortion) And in second/third human trimesters; scissors are jabbed into the HUMAN head and the brains are sucked out-In elective surgeries- daily, in the United States, all under the guise of a woman's "right." The only real "right" is the "right" to remain silent.
When will humans become "endangered" and protected?
When will the so called pro-"choicers" realize basic science skills of the food-chain? Human's are NOT at the bottom of the food-chain.
Do they really see what they do, with their political correctness all in the guise of a "woman's right"?

You need to make a thread just for this e-mail activisim. The dems have NOW and some leftist union page with pre written letters to oppose Estrada.

Not as dangerous than the game they are playing with our national security.....Amen. Many think this is about abortion, but it's far bigger than that. The same anti-American groups who helped finance last weekend's protests are now running the DNC. Many of those who are fighting the honorable Miguel Estrada support the Castro-Hussein friend, terrorist-supporter and self-proclaimed leader of the international "anti-imperialist" (communist, anti-American) movement, Hugo Chavez....including members of the Congressional Black and Hispanic Caucus(s)es.
Soldiers and woman who opposed Chavez found bound and shot in Venezuela town, Feb. 19, 2003.
Hugo Chavez and 9/11, Venezuela's oil billions fund terrorism and protests.
Related: March in protest against Chavez, get 5-10 years in jail.

This battle_unlike the one more than a decade ago about Clarence Thomas's dismal legal qualificationsClarence Thomas has turned out to have one of the brilliant judicial minds the Supreme Court has ever seen. The difference between conservative judges and liberal judges is: Conservative judges INTERPRET the law, liberal judges MAKE the law.

Done. And there is a huge lie in this article. The Republicans did not hold up hundreds of Clinton's judicial nominees, the held up a handful. Almost all received a vote.

Ms. Marquez, a Florida resident, is talking about our courageous, patriotic, freedom-loving Cuban-Americans who risked their lives to flee Castro, who know that the leftist anti-Estrada Hispanics, Che Guevera useful idiot Communist supporters (ie Harry Belafonte and Loretta Sanchez) are not the "freedom fighters" they pretend to be.

Ms. Marquez is, in the end, a loyal Democrat, but she was one of a few columnists in Florida to treat Jeb Bush almost fairly pre-election 2002...and she is talking to her fellow Democrats...as a Hispanic Floridian (anti-Castro).

Democrats' opposition to Estrada is outrageous Knight Ridder/Tribune News Service
(KRT) - The following editorial appeared in the Providence Journal on Friday, Feb. 14: (excerpts) The decision of Senate Democrats to filibuster the nomination of Miguel Estrada to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia is unfortunate, to say the least. Democrats are now in the position not only of turning away a nominee rated "highly qualified" by the American Bar Association, but of rejecting a onetime Supreme Court clerk and Honduran immigrant who graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, for political reasons. .....Make no mistake: Senate Democrats are worried that President Bush might nominate conservative lawyers and jurists to the federal bench. But that is no reason to reject a highly qualified nominee. Just as Bill Clinton appointed judicial liberals to the federal bench - including three Supreme Court justices - it stands to reason that Mr. Bush will nominate conservatives. The process is called democracy. Democrats may not like the results of the 2000 presidential election, but their recourse is to win back the White House in 2004, not to subject distinguished nominees like Miguel Estrada to political torture. |

This goes back to the Recount, but the hard-core left still seems pretty passionate about Bush stole the election. John Edwards on with Chris Matthews in front of a black college had a VERY hard time saying Bush was legitimately ELECTED president. He kept trying to say, he's the legitimate president, no doubt trying to keep seeds of doubt alive about the election. With that kind of thinking out there, liberals think Daschle et all have an OBLIGATION to keep conservatives of the court. I guess we'll have to give them an even bigger surprise in 2004.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the article. I just wish she would have been a bit more careful with the facts about the judicial nominations under Clinton.
