I started out doing primitive hand applique. It's still my favorite but piece quilting is an interesting challenge in itself. :o)

My first applique was a ice cream cone (sugar) for a baby quilt. Didn't come out to badly. Here's another link quiltercatche

Memphis is not a quilters area so places to buy quilting supplies are not plentiful. Things like stencils are hard to come by.
