[history]
Al Gore's presidential campaign manager yesterday said Democrats cannot take black voters for granted in 2004 and must stop attacking civil rights activist Al Sharpton because Republicans are making "inroads" into one of the party's most loyal voting blocs.
Donna Brazile, a top minority voter outreach adviser to the Democratic National Committee, said Democrats must step up their efforts to court black voters, more of whom are registering as independents and Republicans.

Republicans should point to Bush's cabinet and ask blacks if they prefer a President who promises equality or who believes in equality.
It's really that simple.

That's another encouraging sign. Plus there is that Estrada thing, and the fact that a number of Hispanics ARE getting angry about that.
Donna, that giant sucking sound you hear is the plantation you oversee getting smaller.

The fact this woman is highly respected tells me all I need to know about the DNC and the democratic party. After watching her and wandering eye liberal on CNN repeatedly during election coverage etc.... it is quite obvious to anyone with a few brain cells what the Dems are about... and its not American values to say the least.
I will give her points for at least having good diction, far better than Sharpton or Mosely.

LOL. They cringe because they do know him. Dunce.

Groups of [minority] voters are hearing the Republican message," Miss Brazile said in an interview with The Washington Times. Oh God, we wouldn't want that would we. (/sarcasm)

These folks are, IMHO, in the minority. There are lots of folks who would welcome them and who want to reach out.
Sometimes, you have to wonder about those who do not want the outreach efforts to succeed, and whose side they are REALLY on.

It seems there may be a few (very few) on this forum who would rather not see blacks in our camp. That has nothing to do with race, only with that concept that if blacks start joining republicans in large numbers republicans will shift left, instead of blacks shifting right. This is an unfortunate attitude that has happered many of our efforts.

Some actually don't want this, sis. And some of our so-called "friends" are in this number.

FWIW, many don't want to see this trend occur. I'm not speaking about those on the Left. I'm talking about those "friends" on the Right. I really, really, really don't want to agree with that. But, I'm afraid I have to. Why in the world would anyone NOT want seek new votes, in an honest and upfront way, with those who hold many of the same views we do, culturally and economically?

Sharpton, of the disgraceful and criminal Tawana Brawley hoax,... Democrats like criminals. They got a convicted perjurer, an accused rapist and an all-around pervert elected to the most important job on earth--twice. They then compounded it by getting his perverted spouse elected U.S. senator.
Ugh!!!

We need to run a MAJOR campaign promoting personal social security accounts in black neighborhoods. Black men have a lifespan average of around 68, meaning they work 50+ years and get back a pathetic 3 yrs of benefits...The private accounts would allow them to leave their kids an inheritance and a better future. Blacks also tend to be more religious than most democrats. I think a combination of encouraging personal accounts, giving them real ownership and a stake in the economy, along with morality issues could swing a big chunk of black Americans to our side. Even 1% would do the trick in many close elections.
To: kattracks
It is to the advantage of the black community to split their vote: 30% Republican, 70% Democrat, or any other combination.
By showing willingness to jump to the other party, both parties will address the issues important to the black community.
Being married to the Democratic plantation, voting 95% Democratic, creates powerlessness: The Democrats will take you for granted and the Republicans will ignore you.
Finally, the black community, especially the black middle class, will realize this is the best way to influence American real politick

This is an unfortunate attitude that has happered many of our efforts. That attitude is more than unfortunate, it is stupid. I don't know offhand the percentage of culturally and economically conservative blacks, but I'd bet my house it's more than 10%.

Why in the world would anyone NOT want seek new votes, in an honest and upfront way, with those who hold many of the same views we do, culturally and economically?Since I'm not the one to put words into others' mouths, you'd have to ask them for your answer(s).
Also, I don't take any pleasure in pointing to this fact. When it's in your face, however, you must take notice.
It comes down to this with me; which is more important, the accident of skin color or the concept of liberty as enshrined in the Constitution of the United States of America?
If it is the latter, you'd want to extend this concept to any and all who want it, wouldn't you? But if it is the former, all bets are off.
