In other words, Rrrrrrrrrrrrreverend Jacks-nnn, if the city really
meant it when they cited your friends for violations, the city would
harass them until they complied with the orders.

I was listening to Rush a little while ago. Maybe someone else can confirm this, but if I heard correctly, Rush reported that Jackson attempted to intercede with the city on behalf of the club's owners. Anyone else hear this? Sounds as though Jackson could be up to his buggy eyeballs in this.

**On Tuesday, Jackson called for an independent investigation of the tragedy by Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan.**
THIS ought to be good! (sarc)

People were being trapped underneath you ... so we're actually standing on people's heads and we didn't even know it... I wonder if this thought crossed his mind: "I wonder why my head is touching the ceiling?" Hmmmmmmmmmm.

A lawyer for the club operators suggested someone might have shouted a warning about a terrorist attack. Of course in all the stories I've read, no one there at the time mentioned this.
But there is no doubt that we will hear A LOT more of this angle in the weeks to come. IOW, it is the elevated alert status that is to blame.
I guarantee it.

Good point. Of course, they'll have to blame the locked doors on the elevated alert status, as well. ;-)

The press has conspicuously downplayed naming the actual owners [they're listed on another thread here]. And JJ's instant appearance in damage control mode makes it obvious he has a stake in the club, either formally or informally.

Maybe someone else can confirm this, but if I heard correctly, Rush reported that Jackson attempted to intercede with the city on behalf of the club's owners. Anyone else hear this?I was listening and didn't hear this aspect. I did hear him play a soundbite where JJ attempted to link the panic of the people to President Bush and the threat level being raised and invoking the name Bin Laden and the talk of biological and chemical weapons being used.

Yep - it's all Bush's fault! You can smell it coming.
And of course, the Rev'rund Jackson is up to his armpits in the sleaze surrounding this place. This is gonna be one beauty of a cover-up .
To: NativeNewYorker
So what did you know, Jesse, and when did you know it? And were you getting any donations from the club's owners? Inquiring minds want to know...

The lawyers says it was the city's fault. Somehow, this jerk will find the right judge and will assign fault to the inspection department.
To: mewzilla
And in the soundbite Rush played JJ concedes that a door may have been locked BUT if it hadn't been for the atmosphere of panic engendered by Bush...And with that he waved aside any violations of the actual establishment under discussion.

If that comment on Jackson is true, that he had in the past interceded on behalf of the club owners, we will soon hear one of those Emmily Letella......"Never Mind"'s from Jackson's camp. That or some vague reference to slaves, reparations, and fatherhood, creating a cloud of confusion on exactly what the hell he said but assures that nobody will ask.

I didn't hear the soundbite, so I think this might have been discussed afterwards. But I'm pretty sure I heard Rush say that Jackson may have tried to run interference for the owners with the city. But I could have misheard/misunderstood, so maybe another listener could comment.

"The owner knows damn well he is not to operate that second-floor facility," Joyce saidBut that of course didn't matter because the owner call Jessee who played his race card to insure the place remained open.

You know, a REAL leader, like the Rev. Al, would NEVER be involved with people like that. :)
