Churchill went to the polls after his leadership of Britain, it was 1945. The Daily Mirror threw every slur, every scare tactic, all but the kitchen sink at Churchill and his Conservatives.
Churchill went down to defeat. Six years after the Labour Party had ruled, Churchill gained power. The Mirror had associated Churchill, with the brutally hard rule of Baldwin and Chamberlain, which cut back severely on the unemployed. This was over many years before Churchill had any say as a policy maker..
When Churchill finally ruled it was jobs, jobs, and more jobs- I know, as I worked then. Former President Carter has now sunk quite low. He may as well gone on the Jerry Springer show.
