Two men described as 'Middle Eastern' seen driving a semi-truck that made a stop at a Colorado gas station are the focus of a nationwide alert issued by the FBI, according to a report by KUSA-TV in Denver.

The men driving the 18-wheeler reportedly stopped at a Hess station Thursday afternoon in the town of Byers, about forty miles east of Denver.

The FBI’s Joint Terrorist Task Force got involved when an attendant saw the men apparently trying to put unleaded gasoline into the truck. The attendant had to tell the pair to use diesel fuel instead.

The men fueled up with the correct gas, paid in cash and then headed toward Interstate 80 in northeastern Colorado.

Few details of the FBI alert, which was released Friday afternoon, have been made available to the media.

The name on the truck is 'Real Transport' and it has a Quebec, Canada, license plate number RS7-116.

Authorities reportedly ran a check on the plate and determined it's not currently registered.

Although derided by the likes of Chrissy Matthews (who is secretly hysterical with fear), the alert warning system does remind people to be more aware of little things and encourages them to report them without feeling dumb.

The attendant did a good job here, even if it turns out to be nothing.

Of course, guys driving a big rig and not knowing how to fuel it up is like guys learning to driving a jumbo jet but not wanting to learn how to land it.

Reminds me of the state drivers license scandal in Illinois a few years back. Finally took down the governor there. Hundreds and hundreds of unqualified applicants were given commercial drivers licenses for a few hundred dollars under the table. Most were foriengners.

Came to our attention in Wisconsin when a truck lost a large mud flap bracket that a mini van drove over and set it ablaze. A family of six died in the inferno right in front of busy freeway traffic. Horrific.

Turns out the driver was from Mexico, illegal alien and had one of the bogus Illinois licenses. Other truckers had seen the loose bracket but the driver ignored their signals to get him to pull over.

About time in this country that the police and Highway Patrol concentrate on commercial trucks. Both for public safety and security. I am amazed at how many more cars are pulled over than are trucks......

Let's just assume this is some sort of terrorist activity (big assumption). What effect will the snowstorm in Washington, DC and the rest of the NE have on their plans? Obviously, inexperienced truck drivers (who don't know the right fuel, etc.) will have trouble in the ice and snow. But it will slow down LEOs, too.

In the book version, the target was the Super Bowl in Denver, curiously enough. They hid it in a white panel truck with an ABC logo and drove right in. When it goes off, the Russians are scratching their heads because apart from NORAD, which is designed to survive a nuke, they can't think of anything important in Denver, besides some govt. document centers and administrative stuff.

If this is really something nasty, it won't stay in Denver. They'll drive it to somewhere really symbolic and political.

Not surprised the movie version was completely changed. If Clancy had set out to write an anti-"West Wing", he could hardly have been more vicious. The Democrat President is more concerned with boinking his employees than paying attention to security briefings (at least he is a widower.)
