It would be cool if, when this is all over, Bush just called a press conference and declared the UN "null and void, in perpetuity," and announced a new alliance of good-guy nations. And, I say, why not? Let's roll!

Having been through it all in the early 90s, I am sure that ANY operation in Iraq will be given a new name. I disagree wholeheartedly with that. THey should keep Enduring Freedom, to send the message to both the good guys and the bad guys that it is all connected.
To: goodnesswins
You know, now that I think of it, I think Bush might actually do it. He came through on Arafat, after all. Outside of Iraq, the single individual most responsible for the current crisis in international security is Kofi Annan. I think Bush has made this call already, just as he made the call on Arafat. When the showdown with Iraq finally comes, the Axis of Evil will be exposed, and it won't be just three piss-ant countries. And, no, he won't go "unilateralist." There will be a replacement for the UN. Only, Kofi won't be invited. Syria won't be invited. Jacques will have to stay at home. Bye-bye, Libya, goodnight North Korea. This could be the start of something big!

YES.....and with what will probably be the "blood on their hands" it wouldn't be too difficult to dismiss the OLD UN in favor of something maybe called the "LIBERTY ALLIANCE!"

You know, it's also kind of a frat house thing, which is so perfect. There'll be a "Liberty Alliance" of pro-freedom countries -- the nations most likely to succeed, get rich, marry well, etc. -- and a "Losers' Lounge" for socialist cess-pools like Germany, France, and North Korea, all the places on their way down the toilet. I find the whole idea very compelling.

He may very well propose something like that, but only in addition to the UN, not in place of it, since he loves spending money on foreign aid and global socialism.

You mean the US is not acting alone? Amazing. You'd never know it by press reports.
Way to go Goodnesswins.

Expect to see something different than the UN. Headed by Germany with a European Army. One that will eventually attack the US and its major allies, and then afterwards a Sino-Asian alliance, which will in turn wipe it out.
laugh now/pay later
Write this down. It'll happen.

The UN can and should be replaced with something much more simple and much more effective. There would just be two clubs: "The Nuke Club" and "The Peon Club". To belong to the Nuke Club, your nation has to build a nuke, blow it up without blowing yourself up, and build another one to use. The Nuke club would just have three simple rules: 1) if we can all agree on something, we work on it together; 2) if we can't all agree on something, then we will at least stay out of each other's way; 3) if one of us Nukes another one of us or our friends, then all of the rest of us will make sure that the perp country REALLY will be HISTORY.
The Peon Club will consist of all the other countries of the world EXCEPT Nuke Club members. The Nuke Club members will be absent so there will be no illusions about the Peon Club being of any real importance. The only purpose of the Peon Club will be as a place where members can make useless speeches and debate and deliberate endlessly on totally pointless issues. Pretty much as the UN Gen'l assembly works now, but minus any illusions that it has any importance at all.

Someone posted a link with the flags of all the countries that have NOT joined Operation Enduring Freedom...Lybia, Syria, Iraq...etc Do you have these? I think it will make a great contrast between good and evil.
To: DoughtyOne
Hey...you're back....why don't you post your flag pic and info too.....! The more the merrier.
