As a "devout" Texan, I found your link interesting as hell. I'd never heard the Texas-Kuwait comparison before . . . but I can say this, we'd still be fighting if a foreign army -- the U.S. in your link -- had tried to annex us against our will.

But even more important is this...the rest of the world just doesn't comprende that that's not how the United States does things. We could've made Germany the 51st state if we'd wanted to -- or would it have been the 49th or 50th because of Hawaii and...ahhh, hell, you know what I'm talking about. And we could've added France . . . but who wants that cesspool. Puerto Rico, the Phillipines, etc.

Especially today, if we REALLY WANTED to annex ANY country, we could pick and choose with impunity. But we ain't threaded that way. Looney's like Clooney and all the others who say "it's just about the oil" and how "imperialistic" we are are just afflicted with a terminal case of the teenie-weenie complex.

I was amazed when I read the comment trying to draw an analogy between the annexation of Texas by America and the annexation of Kuwait by Iraq. I couldn't believe that anyone could be so stupid as to make that comparison, but many people simply don't know history very well. I was reminded of a former fellow employee whose daughter lived in Japan for a few years and was confronted with Japanese who couldn't understand why we nuked them. They had never been taught that they started the war, and the daughter had never learned it either. When I thought about that situation, I decided it would be good to put out a little information to counter this Arab lie.

Texas Wasn't Kuwait
