Media Bias Stifles Creationists' Scientific Findings, Perspective
AgapePress ^ | February 11, 2003 | Jim Brown

The president of a Christian apologetics ministry says there is a bias within the mainstream media to present anything that seems to support evolution or undermines the Bible.

When evolutionists claimed they found a meteorite from Mars with life in it, the report received front-page headlines around the world -- and even then-President Clinton got involved. Yet when even secular scientists agreed that there was no evidence of life in that rock, the story received little attention from the press.

Ken Ham, president of Answers in Genesis, says that was not an isolated case of bias. He explains that the secular media -- which he describes as atheistic and anti-Christian -- publishes most anything it can that appears to indoctrinate people and "hits against the Bible."

"It's very hard for us to get anything in there because coming from a biblical, creationist position and worrying about biblical morality [and believing] that the Bible's true, the secular world by and large doesn't want to hear it -- and secular media certainly don't want people to hear it," he says.

Ham says II Peter 3 tells us that men are willingly ignorant, deliberately reject, or choose to disbelieve. Certainly, Ham says, that is being exhibited in the media. And according to Ham, that even extends to scientific journals.

He explains that his ministry, which defends the biblical account of creation, has had to produce its own scientific journals because of censorship by evolutionists. He says it is nearly impossible to have creation research papers published in magazines like Nature or Science.

"They say [our articles] are not scientific [because] they have the creationist philosophy," Ham says. "It doesn't matter how scientific our scientists are, if they come from a creationist perspective, they won't publish them.

"And then they turn around and tell the public [it] can't trust creationists because they don't publish reputable papers in scientific journals," he says. "In fact, they won't let us publish the papers."

Ham says when this occurs, he is often reminded of the passage in scripture which says: "The heart of man is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked."

"Lies, misrepresentation of Facts, and unquestioning devotion to dogma is the mantra of the Liberal & EVOLUTIONIST"

Dogma isn't that the stuff Christian believe in. That unchanging Biblical truth. Scientists may not be happy to change their beliefs when research disproves their assumptions but they do. Dogma is unchanging Science changes daily as new information is processed. Sorry you need to do better than that. Go back to your dogmatic studies of your unchanging word of God.

I have discussed stellar distances at length in other threads the Creationist merely say God made the universe with the Light already on its way. Of course that "God" lies to his creation, even his followers misrepresent basic scientific facts.

Job 9:9
He is the Maker of the Bear and Orion,
the Pleiades and the constellations of the south.

Amos 5:8
...he who made the Pleiades and Orion,

Luke 21:26
26Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.

Acts 7:42
42But God turned away and gave them over to the worship of the heavenly bodies.

I believe they called planets "heavenly bodies". The Romans had many Gods named after planets. Mars, Venus... There is no reason to believe that the Bible disregards the planets (see Acts 7:42) The writers clearly would have known about planets being contemporaries of Egyptians, Greeks and Romans.

The Bible does not claim to be a science textbook. Only a message from God to you. And most frequently it is spoken in spiritual terms.

Five Major Evolutionist Misconceptions About Evolution
  1. Evolution has never been observed.
  2. Evolution violates the 2nd law of thermodynamics.
  3. There are no transitional fossils.
  4. The theory of evolution says that life originated, and evolution proceeds, by random chance.
  5. Evolution is only a theory; it hasn’t been proved

Evolution has never been observed.

Yes it has on the microbiotic level (this is actually the level where all evolution occurs) even Christian "scientists" admit this. I hate to call those people scientists

Evolution violates the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

No it doesn't Christians often misuse the second law because they dont understand it.

There are no transitional fossils.

In fact there are transitional fossils Hmm in fact there are fossils hominids that exibit features of both homoerectus and modern human. Of course I have heard creationist explain this away by saying Homo erectus was a modern human. I assure you they are a different species.

The theory of evolution says that life originated, and evolution proceeds, by random chance.

Evolutionists on the whole do not express how life originated as at this time the exact origin of life is clouded by time. If you have read any ofour threads on this subject you will realize saying random chance is the negine of evolution is just wrong. There are so many factors in evolution that there could be whole books written on itand there are. Go read a few.

Evolution is only a theory; it hasn’t been proved

Gravitation is only a theory, Eletricity is only a theory , the speed of light is only a theory. Please read a Book other than a bible once in awhile.

I can sympathize with the Creationists. I too have been shut out by Nature and Science. My last essay, "Leprochauns: Bred Out Of Existence?"
was once again passed over. Damn elitists and their "facts."

Of COURSE you were shut out. Your paper had no mention of Smurf and Leprechaun interbreeding which CLEARLY causes the resulting depopulation. Do you have any grasp of the fundamentals of fairie folklore?

How can each layer be so distinct if it blends zillions of years?

Each layer doesn't blend zillions of years; that's the point. It's one particular period of sediment deposition which occurred in one set of conditions at one spot. Thus, the Grand Canyon has marine limestones and desert sandstones--at different times. In between the periods of deposition can be--and typically are--long periods of no deposition, even erosion.

Do these layers of "distinct ecosystems" match up on a global scale? Or can someone say the ecosystem here is different than the ecosystem there.

Lets see ahh the bones of this dinosaur are in that layer in Africa, but in America the same dinosaur bones are in a different layer because of a different "distinct ecosystem". In Africa there was a volcano in Montana there was a lake basin. Yeah that’s it.

No, no, no it was a meteor in Africa and a run away glacier in Montana. Yeah that’s it.

You're saying that for evolution to be true the geologic column has to show us that the same thing was always happening everywhere at once? Is this a refutation? If there's a volcano anywhere in the world now belching out dust and lava, we have to have "Volcano Earth?" If there's a lake anywhere on Earth now, the whole Earth should be under fresh water, or evolution is false?

If that's not it, what are you trying to say?

Evolution has never been observed.

False. At a minimum, it is observed every time a domestic animal is bred for specific traits, and it is observed every time a bacteria becomes resistand to antibiotics.

Evolution violates the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

False. Under your standard, every organization that takes place with the application of energy violates the second law of thermodynamics - because as anyone with sense knows, that law is overcome by the application of energy. Since energy is abundant, you're wrong.

There are no transitional fossils.

False. You ignore the transitions in horses, sharks, turtles, etc.

The theory of evolution says that life originated, and evolution proceeds, by random chance.

False. Evolution dictates that mutations which bring greater success will become dominant in a species, and that is what changes them.

Evolution is only a theory; it hasn’t been proved

Biblical YEC theorists start from a single source, not science, and torture the science to reach a preconception; evolutionists operate from scientific test and observation first, and formulate the theory to best fit the observable data.

Well, NASA estimates may have been wrong at first but since 1963 they were pretty accurate. And since then several measurments have been done which confirm these estimates.
What (some) creationists do, however, is to ignore data which is newer than 1963.

Here are some more websites that deal especially with the dust layer on the moon:
http://www.don-lindsay-archive.org/creation/moondust.html
http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/moon-dust.html

I still don't see why you think that the thickness of the dust layer on the moon is evidence for a young earth. The contrary is the case.
