EX-CLINTON AIDE: DC Renaissance Hotel's'S Sports Bar is Deification of Bush, Anti-Clinton
USNewswire via Bloomberg, no url | 2/14/03

WASHINGTON, Feb. 14 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Ex-Clinton political aide

Bob Weiner is slamming the D.C. downtown Renaissance Hotel's new

presidential photo sports bar as a ''deification of Bush,

anti-Clinton, and thereby partisan.''

Weiner, who served as Public Affairs Director for the White House

Drug Czar and was a White House Athletic Center board member while

Clinton was President, visited the new bar yesterday in advance of

today's (Friday) opening to see how the presidential sports pictures

looked and to offer a photo of Clinton leading a group of runners,

including DC Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton. ''I expected to join in

the celebration,'' Weiner stated.

Instead, Weiner said, ''I saw an entrance corridor of four dramatic

George W. Bush photos, another Bush photo on a wall, and one Clinton

photo -- buried in a corner inside the actual bar, of him playing

pool. To me, and to several hotel employees with whom I spoke, the

Bush photos were disproportionate considering that Clinton is our most

recent and an eight-year president. The one Clinton photo denigrates

the spirit of enthusiastic leadership he conveyed, and the photos of

everyone else -- including Reagan and Bush I both riding horses over

fencesshow vitality and high adventure.''

''Clinton's sports love, as everyone knows, was running -- he told

me himself that he ran 25-30 miles a week. We offered the Renaissance

a beautiful picture -- free -- of him running, poster sized, and even

offered to quickly get a comparable outstanding frame from the

National Gallery so it would match the other quite wonderful photos of

the many other presidents the exhibit has. The exhibit manager, Bill

Englar, the hotel's Food and Beverage Manager, responded, 'I paid a

contractor, they organized it, and there's no space.' I responded with

what I felt was obvious -- 'We are not charging anything, doesn't your

contractor work for you, and here or here or here (pointing) there is

lots of space.' He then asked for a better quality photo, and I showed

him a clear original, which could be quickly re-poster-sized. But it

was clear no response by me would be adequate, especially since he

would not even look at our photo when asked several times, until I

physically held it up in front of him.''

''My worst fear is that because of Renaissance being a Marriott

hotel and Marriott owners' history of strong Republic allegiance,

there is a strong partisan and anti-Clinton bent in an exhibit that is

open to all DC. I know that the hotel does not only want Republican

patrons, so it is my hope they will balance the exhibit and include

photos like the one we've suggested to show Clinton's genuine

enthusiasm and the mantle of leadership he epitomized in available

sports photos,'' Weiner concluded.

I called Bob Weiner's number (listed at the bottom of the article) and told him (on his machine) that since this is a free country, the Marriott is free to hang whatever photos they choose in their sports bar, even photos of Saddam Hussein. I said, "On second thought that might not be a bad idea. It might attract some democrats to the bar."

If this is worst fear, the man has no grasp of reality whatsoever. Most people's worst fear is being gassed or shot down in an airplane by Muslim terrorists!

Josh Steiner: Formerly Treasury chief of staff at the tender age of 28, Steiner essentially told Senate investigars he had lied to his diary, which said Clinton "was furious" at Roger Altman's decision to recuse himself. "Persuaded George [Stephanopoulos] that firing him [the RTC investigator] would be incredibly stupid and improper," the notes read. "I wish that my diary was more accurate," Steiner told incredulous Republicans and sympathetic Democrats.

This whine by Weiner was "published" on U.S. Newswire, a pay-to-publish outlet for PR flacks. Any crank can boost their own ego by paying the admission fee to see their own name in a press release.

That's really all that this is - a kind of vanity publishing for a whiner who otherwise couldn't get people to pay any attention to him. In effect, he is tooting his own horn. It's his way of telling the world "look at me, I was once a loyal Clinton stooge, and now I'm only a has-been PR guy. Please (pretty please) all of you other Clinton stooges out there in Stoogeland, share my outrage at this travesty and then hire me so that I can write this kind of fluff for you, too."

He should rightly be embarrassed at this telling admission of his pathetic irrelevance, but then if repeatedly kissing Clinton's butt didn't shame him, pretty much nothing will.

Yeah, right. And he told us he didn't have sex with Monica.

The one Clinton photo denigrates the spirit of enthusiastic leadership he conveyed,

They could put up the one of him leading that female jogger into that little room he used.

That would accurately portray his leadership.

Re#29 LOL. I was interrupted while typing the post and this thread got jumped on. As to your pics at #17, I forgot the one on the right where his breasts are bigger than Hillary's (although his thighs are not). Nicely done...

I know that the hotel does not only want Republican patrons,

I don't know why not. I'd certainly choose an all Republican establishment over an all RAT one any day.

The feeling at local newspapers when you ask for one conservative voice to be included is that they own the paper and you can read it or subscribe to the local nonexistent conservative paper.

In that light, to this man, I say, you can stay there or stay at some hotel with a liberal pictures.

I know that the hotel does not only want Republican patrons, so it is my hope they will balance the exhibit and include photos like the one we've suggested to show Clinton's genuine enthusiasm and the mantle of leadership he epitomized in available sports photos,'' Weiner concluded.

Lest people forget, Weiner was the "citizen" who wrote to the D.A. in Howard County, MD, and insisted that Linda Tripp be prosecuted.

Let's compare Clinton to George W. - actually, I take it back - there IS no comparison!

I read an article in Men's Health some months back about the exercise program President Bush does - now THAT guy is an athlete!

Also, I haven't seen / heard about too many GWB McDonald's appearnces of late...but maybe I have my head in the sand, like most liberals...

Absolutely no way Clinton ran/runs 25 to 30 miles a week. That's at least four miles a day, he doesn't have the discipline, plus he is flabby and soft. President Bush runs three miles a day, which is 21 miles a week. Clinton just can't leave it alone...
