I just saw a AP article that the move to Code Orange was partially based on some intel that proved to be a fabrication - but now they're considering RED?

Blix is reporting and what happens next? I would go to code red also.

Ditto. Is this article before or after the revelation that some of the Code Orange intel was phony?
In any event, if they are going to strike, they'd better do it soon. If it starts snowing the way they expect, this place is going to be a ghost town until the Spring thaw.

There must be another source here besides the Al Qaeda guy who failed the lie detector test reported by ABC News mentioned Detroit and Vigrinia, he didn't say anything about New York and Washington D.C.

I don't know. I have the feeling that increase to orange had a lot more to it than just the word of one Al Qaeda jerk.

Key words being only partially based and I read it last night and did not find it credible. First released by ABC.

Fox News was running an announcement of Code Red at the bottom of the screen last night, though I saw no confirmation of it anywhere. Since it wasn't on FR, I figured it wasn't true.
Did anyone else see that?

There is no way Bush would play politics with these security alerts. If he did they would never be believed again. Clinton would have done something like that, not Bush.

Oh yeah, and the AP/ABC would never mislead, exaggerate, or misrepresent in order to make the administration look bad. Nope, no sirree, would never happen.
Don't be so gullible. The threat assessment wasn't based on a single piece of info.

dirtboy, don't tell me you believed the polygraph test failure BS, you should know better. That was to try to calm down the Amurican sheeple.

I just saw a AP article that the move to Code Orange was partially based on some intel that proved to be a fabrication - but now they're considering RED?It was partly based on testimony from an Al-Qaeda detainee who failed a lie detector test. The problem is, such tests cannot say, "His answer to this question is a lie."
Lie detector tests can only detect patterns of dishonesty, meaning some of the detainee's statements may be true, while others may not be.

It was my understanding there were several items (more than 3) which caused the orange alert - if one of them was proven to be wrong - that doesn't eliminate the rest of the items.
And ... since we do not know all the details of the items, the ones left could actually hold more weight that the one which was proven to be wrong.
Recently, in AZ they found a small notebook in a backpack by the border to Mexico. It was written in Arabic. I wonder if that information gave authorities some information about planned actions which can be causing the possible RED alert.

Clicking on the link at the beginning of this thread now has a different article than the one posted which says that we can all take a deep breath of relief, that the change to code red has been cancelled.
Whew.

"but now they're considering RED?"
I was hearing on Friday that some power plants and industrial sites have already gone code red. The govmint intel expects attacks on soft targets that could disrupt the economy.
