CNN Crossfire host Robert Novak stated on "Inside Politics" that the underlying reason for this recess was that Congress wants to get out of Washington due to "wives pressure" and "fear of impending terrorist attack"

Now THAT makes sense. Senators wanting to get the heck out of Dodge for a while. I'm not condoning it,just saying the explanation of why they got the week (sheesh we should all be so fortunate) off.
I was going to suggest that the Dems whined Frist to death and he finally relented. I just hope Estrada gets voted in.

I heard Hatch on Hannity a while ago. There are procedural problems. Several senators are recuperating from surgery. For example, McConnell is recovering from bypass surgery. Another senator's wife is undergoing medical treatment. If Frist required the Rats to debate through the recess, the Dems could leave a skeleton crew in DC and at anytime could note the absence of a quorum. If the Pubbies can't get their troops to respond, the Rats could require a cloture vore which they would lose. Frist really has no choice but to do this.

I'd be very disappointed if the Republican senators are greater cowards than the RAT senators.

The Senate is a pestulant congregation of cowards anyway,
thus it shouldn't surprise anyone that they'd run away...from anything.

Makes some sense. I was just told by a friend in D.C. that it might be a good idea to keep away from heavily populated areas like shopping malls the next few days. Especially shopping malls.
