Actually, I thought what the judiciary committee did to John Ashcroft was the most sickening outrageous personal attack in a long time.

He also said that blocking Estrada's nomination smacked of racism. Hatch snapped, "It is hypocritical. It is wrong. It is unfair. It is establishing a precedent that could hurt this country immeasurably. ... To do it against the first Hispanic nominated to the Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia is particularly reprehensible, especially since he has every qualification a person needs to fulfill this responsibility.

Good outburst.

Now what has to happen is that every Republican on every news, talk, or otherwise public shows MUST ECHO THESE POINTS. They have to be made to DOMINATE this discussion!

"This is one of the worst arguments I have ever heard on the floor of the Senate. And it is all done for political purposes," he said, because Estrada is a Republican, "which is very tough for them [the Democrats] to take."

GO Orrin GO!!

The Democrats have never sat still when one of the slaves tries to leave the plantation. Same today as in the days of legal slavery. They insist upon their exclusive ownership of certain races and classes of persons.

"We never, ever filibustered a Clinton nominee, not once."

That's is precisely where the Republicans went WRONG..
There were PLENTY of Clinton's nominees that SHOULD have been challenged and denied...

Including his Supreme Court nominee -- "Miss Ruth"

Those were my thoughts exactly. They are desperate to keep control over those who no longer want to be controlled, just as the slave owners were. My new motto is going to be: FREE AMERICA FROM SLAVERY--VOTE REPUBLICAN!

The news is providing cover for the Democrats pretty well. The co-workers I have asked were not aware that a filibuster had been in progress. Yahoo and MSNBC have it buried out of the headlines.

Scardy Cats!

The proper pronounciation for that phrase is "skay-ruh-dee katz", as if spoken by a Frenchman.

"We never, ever filibustered a Clinton nominee, not once." That's is precisely where the Republicans went WRONG..

Actually, I'm prone to disagree with this. The filibuster is certainly a legitimate legislative tool for the Senate to use. But it is absolutely critical that vacant judicial slots be filled expediently. Given that the political divide in this country is very close to 50-50, if both parties decide to start filibustering every nominee they don't fully agree with politically, I believe it could eventually lead to nothing less than a Constitutional crisis. I don't believe this tactic should be resorted to unless a nominee has something that is so egregious in nature as to render them beyond the pale.
