Prayer Thread for Yellow Rose of Texas - THIS IS NO DRILL!!
Posted on 02/13/2003 11:28:49 AM PST by TEXOKIE
Long time Freeper Yellow Rose of Texas has recently had an attempted back surgery during which her aorta, which was encased in scar tissue, was nicked and had to be repaired. In a previous prayer thread, many many folks have graciously offered their prayers and comments of encouragement to her. I spoke with Yellow Rose of Texas yesterday and here is the latest!
Her recovery to the previous surgical attempt to do the back surgery has been phenominal. She saw her doctor two days ago on Tuesday. She is doing well enough that he has scheduled her back surgery in a week for TUESDAY FEBRUARY 18, 2003. She had initially been told it would be a few weeks longer to recover, but she has amazed her doctor and he judges that she is ready for the next procedure.
Rose has asked me to thank you each and every one so very much for all your thoughts and prayers on her behalf. She asked me to quote her,
"Thank you so much. I feel each and every one of your prayers. The Good Lord is with me and my family. I dont feel scared at all. This surgery will stabilize my back and it'll all be fine. I feel so protected. I am hoping that this surgery will enable me to once more return to the freeping that I enjoy. It has seemed in my life that if something unusual can happen, it will happen to me. Please pray that the surgery be routine. NO SURPRISES!! LOL!!"

I think she is doing just fine for this stage of being home from what I read. I think she can only be up in a chair for a short time each day for a while longer yet....Texokie is keeping the group together, thinking about Rose and also adding prayers for those whose own concerns have been shared on this thread.
Speaking of well wishes..."Howse youse doin' ol' warrior?" Your stuff under control again?

That is such encouraging news, AAMother! I know that will give Rosie such a lift. I'm so glad that your own mother is doing so well. I agree with you that modern medicine can certainly border on the miraculous at times!

Thank you for joining us, Geeze! So good to see you!
You are welcome for the update.
I appreciate all your prayers for Rosie, and now for my sister.
That is a good question...I do not know if my sis will be doing the cataract surgeries all at once or in shifts! I will have to find out and let you know!

As far as I know, sneakypete, she is doing just fine! I did my last update on her condition around the 8th. She is home and following doc's orders. Her pain has been mitgated a great deal. I expect I'll have another update here near the end of the month.
More to the point, how have YOU been doing? We're all still pulling for your own recovery from your January surgery!

Amen, Tex, to your great prayer (I printed it out to read again during prayer time), and the prayer of protection and comfort for Jane; also your sister, Tex, and her eyesight.
There are so many freepers and members of their family who are serving in the military , and so many freepers who deeply care and pray for each man and woman serving at this terrible time and we thank God for the prayer warriors because they are so powerful. I would ask all of you, when you're praying for our troops, to please mention my son's name, Mitchell. Mitchell is with USAF air refueling wing in Oman right now. Many of the planes which will attack Iraq will fly out of Oman and yesterday the state department urged all Americans to leave Oman because of the tensions and security problems in the area.
My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:19

I just wrote Mitchell's name on my prayer list. I will pray for him and all our wonderful troops every morning and every night. While we are here safely FReeping, eating, sleeping, and going about our business, they are out there putting their lives on the line.
God bless each and every one of our military serving in these difficult times, and the families at home who have made a great sacrifice to let them go over there.
Thanks, TexOkie, for all your prayers.
Tell Yellow Rose that because of her, we have all been inspired to pray for one another. The goodness goes out like ripples on a pond.

Is there a thread dedicated to Freepers who have family members over there in Iraq area who need prayer? Every time I run across a name, I say a prayer that night but my memory won't hold all of them. I need a list to print out and put by my bed. Sounds silly, I know, but it just seems like a more personal prayer is needed -- a prayer with actual names.
I can't stick around, but I'll be back later.
To: TEXOKIE
Thanks for the update. I'll keep Yellow Rose and your sister in my prayers.

Amen! Praise God!!!
To: Nita Nuprez
I've wondered that myself. A list of names and relationship to FReeper would be terrific and maybe a separate place to post pictures of them. That would be so cool because we could print out the list for prayer time. I know I pray when I read of someone in service and have added a couple to prayer list, but a list would be so helpful and we'd be sure everyone and their families were covered.

Thank you so much, your heart is so great and you do so much for all of our troops. God Bless you.
