The newly introduced 500 Smith & Wesson Magnum cartridge produces nearly three times the muzzle energy of the .44 Magnum round, which far exceeds all other handgun cartridges.

A guy that works at the gun range I goto from time to time, told me a story of a customer that was shooting a .44 mag who ended up with a stress fracture in his wrist. Multiply that by 3, and you've got serious problems. Of course, I still want one.

Zounds and gadzooks.

Catch-22 here.... Anyone who is tough enough to handle the weapon doesn't need it! ;^)

S&W turned to CORBON to develop the ammo. www.corbon.com already has the specs on the ammo. They have 400 grain ammo at >1,600 fps and a whopping 2,500+ ft/lbs muzzle energy.

Each model of the above comes with a personalized sling, elbow and wrist braces.

I'll stick with the old fashioned .45 or .44 Colt Walker, thanks. For chraging animals of larger size, I'll use a rifle or double barrel shotgun, as the variety requires.

(Still, it would be nice to try and shoot one and one would look real good in my collection.)
