Don't worry about any caving on this nomination! Republicans will not back down not today, not tomorrow, not ever. Estrada has the votes to be confirmed and the Hillary DemocRATs are going to pay for this one in the end.
Their obstruction of this Hispanic Judge will come back to haunt them. They will not give an up or down vote and they are not entitled to those papers. The Bush Administration did not cave on the Cheney papers and they will not cave now.
Let the Senate do nothing because of the Hillary DemocRATs and the American people see that the DemocRATs who they voted out of the leadership is pulling this stunt against a member of a minority when we are about to go to WAR.

I really believe that if the Republicans can hang tough, once the American public realizes what's going on -- time of terror warnings, Hispanic nominee "kept in his place" by the Dems -- it will come back to bite the Democratic party.
One problem will be getting the word out to those who don't use alternative sources of news. The LA TIMES *buried* the Estrada story in a teeny couple of lines (literally) buried in the middle of the front section, headlined that the White House wouldn't turn over confidential docs. What I saw last night on C-Span was rather extraordinary, but does the TIMES think its readers (especially the Hispanic readers of So. CA) need to know about it? Noooooo.
