Thank you. Normally I have little patience for most of the senate maneuvering but this nomination and confirmation will be somewhat historic and it deserves an honest, recorded vote.

If you are boxing, and you have the size and skill, you don't let the other guy get you in a clinch.

Stand back, probe the opening, and turn out the lights. Don't even give them warm milk or sing them a lullaby.

The fillibuster has no value right now. Let's move away from Estrada, and first opening send him right to his desk. "Miguel, can you start today?"

This thing satisfies a latent hunger we have for the GOP to look strong, fearless and relentless ... but that's how gamblers go broke.

Ahhhhhhhhhh ... but there IS something to gain; the Hispanics' future votes. The longer this drags on, the more news it gets, the more eyes open, and then the Dems suffer some more. And, who's to say that IF this went on long enough and in the right way ( which it won't now, thanks to Frist; curse him ! ), that some Dems wouldn't get peeled off from the mob ?

W do a " partsan " thing ? Like recess appointments ? Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw, he won't do that. As much as I like and admire the president, he and I part company on some things and I know/understand how he thinks. He's no X42 and won't do that; unfortunately.

How do we counter the fact that if this
occurs, it will take 60 votes to get anyone nominated?

Are you saying, appoint Estrada, and all the rest of
the appeals court nominees at the same time, just bypass
the confirmation?

The "Hispanics" whose support is so golden have NO CLUE about this nonsense. Barbara Boxer is talking about forest management, Byron Dorgan is yakking about the defecit and Robert Byrd is waxing nostalgic about the Grand Ole Opry before electricity.

Now ... after Bush recess appoints Estrada .... any subsequent RAT (media) outrage or illumination will only reveal the inspirational story of Honduran immigrant Estrada to a large Latino immigrant community hungry for America's blessings and opportunities.

The RATS won't pursue THAT action. But, as long as the war is watched by their sponsors and contained to C-SPAN2 during the workday .... they'll behave like the race-baiting scumsuckers they are.

The heck it won't. There are commercials playing now on Univision in key states. The pressure will come to bear on these dim senators, by their hispanic constituents. Then we will see.

Yes I am woody, I'm saying the Constitutional mandate you and I have to a speedy trial by jury, and a review by a higher court is of primary import. We need Judges to fill Federal benches to attack unacceptable backlogs and their Unconstitutional usurpation of our legal system.

The Senate RATS have no intent to fulfill their obligation to fair and expedient advice and consent role to Executive appointments.

Bush is thus obligated .... TO US ... to fill open Court Judgeships in any way that is legal, ethical and in the best interest of our ONLY avenue to guard against the abuses of State and neighbor. Force and fraud.

Screw the RATS, they're the enemy. Not loyal opposition. Enemy.

I don't know about that. The N.Y. Post has and is running quite a few articles, about the Estrada thing, every day. Many Hispanics ( dumb and useless PC word, but FWIW, has to be used in this context ) read the N.Y. Post, so they are aware of this. The longer this drags on, the better. But, thanks to Frist, it isn't being run right. The Dems are getting their was and the GOP loses , yet again.

The Dems won with the Lott mess and should they win this one, then the GOP will NEVER get anything any of us want done. The Dems are emboldened. President Bush is NOT going to do a recess appointment for Estrada. You're absolutely wrong about that. Estrada will be gone, Pickering will be dealt with in the same way, and so will ALL of the president's juducial nominees. New Supreme Court Justice, if and when one decides to leave during this presidential term ? FUGGEDDABOOOOUUDIT

We need to play hardball...we aren't. Your suppotions. nonwithstanding, the GOPers seem to be caving and losing again. You're just dreaming. Your way is NOT in the president's lexicon of action.

And, if any Bush executive decree is deemed so abusive, so offensive and so intolerable to the American citizenry ... he's gotta win a vote of that citizenry in November 2004. Every judge he appoints will be subject to new nomination, review, advice and consent in 2005.

There's a very clear and direct referendum that will judge whether a recess appointment option is acceptable or unacceptable to our neighbors and countrymates. I like our odds ... EVERYONE understands the bullshit of red tape and delayed and denied justice.

Which six Democrat Senators do you think are so vulnerable to a Hispanic backlash that they will betray their servitude to the RAT tong and vote for cloture?

It isn't " hardball ", because Frist isn't playing it ; the Dems are.

" Pattycake " ? It's Russian roulette, with an empty gun for Dems and a fully loaded one, for the GOPers.

Why are you assuming that President Bush will make an interim post for Estrada ? He hasn't EVER done that before and could have, with Pickering. Ain't gonna happen. Then, after you wipe the egg off your face, what next ? More suggestions, gleaned from your dearth of mind reading abilities ?

I'm not into feelgood gestures, and I'm not into moral victories. The RATS have the votes to stiff this legitimate process, and they have the will to do so.

They've got their institutional tools. So does the President.

They use theirs without hesitation, precedent or sense of fair play. Bush needs to disabuse himself of this "bipartisan" veneer, and start getting jiggy with his greater institutional powers, his bully pulpit and his great popularity ... and yes, the focus of our nation on more important, safety and security priorities.

The Dems are going to sabotauge EVERY program, trend, tool and event that would provide American benefit, as they see the benefit accruing to Bush and the GOP. They want many American servicemen killed, they want many Iraqui citizens killed, they want our economy to tank, they want our borders compromized and they want our freedoms and well being diminished. So they can retake the reins of government and control of our lives and property.

If we have 30 Judicial bench openings, and they have been unfilled for 24 months because of Senate Democrat corruption .... name 30 frigging Judges to recess appointments. Recess appoint every unfilled Executive Agency management position that has been blocked by the unAmerican RATS.

Do it one fell swoop. Why would ordinary Americans support the Senate Democrat actions? They want their government to work, dammit, they don't want political games.

I can sell this program.

I agree with your post; however, ain't gonna happen, more's the pity.It just isn't in President Bush's nature to do what you suggest. You can't " sell " this, because you don't have his ear and even if you did have, he wouldn't act on it. It's just not his way and soooooooooooooo, we all lose; yet once again.

Why would he appoint Pickering when a change of Senate "control" was looking positive? The RATS weren't expected to filibuster a Judicial nominee, but they have, and they will.

So, it calls for a change in approach and strategy. Recess appointments are a powerful Executive tool against the tyranny of a irresponsible Senate minority. If Bush won't use the tool, he's a fool.

Hit me with a 2 X 4, I'll hit you with a steel pipe. (Not you nopardons ;^)) Stab me I'll shoot you. The President has overwhelming force over Senate obstructionists, when he can demonstrate a majority support for his program.

The Senate Dems are lifting their leg and scent marking Bush's territory. The Alpha male reigns pain on that interloper. Bush is the big dawg, and he needs to deliver some hardass discipline to the Dem wannabe-gangsters.

This is a gang fight now, but it's a gang fight to music and dancing like in West Side Story. The scrum needs to be butched up several notches.

Look, I agree with you; however, President Bush isn't quite the " BIG DAWG " , who fights back. I wish he were. If wishes were horses, the poor would all ride.

I don't know if W told Frist to allow everyone to just go home, or not. I don't know WHY Frist hasn't made everyone stay, since that's how a REAL fillibuster is supposed to work. There are at least three Dems, who are with the GOP and more WOULD have been peeled off, if this had been run right. Now ? It's a mess.

Gang fight to music ? More like a gang fight, where one side wears boxing gloves and has goo on their eppee blades and the other side is using brass knuckles and howitzers. :-(

Can't sleep so reading your posts. Somewhere in my mind lingers a thought about appointments being made in times of emergencies. Does that ring a bell with any one?

I do believe the sixty votes will be there. Someone make a list of the Dem Senators, and check off those who have spoken in the last two days. Several are missing. Bayh in Indiana wasn't even answering the phone today. Will get him tomorrow. Keep calling your local senators.
