I just called all three of the congresscritters in my state and both sinawhores. I was nice and polite and let them know that I am very displeased that the senate will not bring the nomination of Estrada to a vote.
I called the local #'s.
Should I call the office in the swamp as well?
Maybe someone will post the link for those #'s again if it will help to call there as well as the locak office.

Report on the President's speech: Very stirring, tons of applause and standing ovations. Spoke well about the navy's contribution to the Afghan campaign. Said that the terrorists would be hunted down. Said Saddam has WMD, has not disarmed, thinks he's going to get another 12 years...WRONG. Said that Saddam harbors terrists including al Qaeda.
If force is necessary, we will go as a liberator of the Iraqi people. He is optimistic UN will step up to the plate...but if not, we will.
Memorable quote:
"History has given us this charge, and it is a charge that we will keep."
(Gave me chills as I remember that "A Charge to Keep" is both the title of his book and his favorite hymmn.

The Senate members in all of their supposed wisdom do not understand their duties, much less the entire Constitution.
That is painfully obvious when they speak and write. Their duties are advice and consent with nothing more and nothing less. The word advice causes a bit of a problem but the definition of it is to give opinion and on that they fall short of understanding.
They think their duty is to dictate to the President what person is sent or who is not sent for consent. The duty they have is part of the balance to protect the Constitution, not an exercise in choosing those with the proper socialist ideology, which they favor.

"Estrada happens to be a Hispanic conservative."Say : we all know that the Democratic part is rabidly racist. So the racial profiling of Estrada shouldn't be surprising.
We should start calling their Inquisition-style attempts to destroy all conservative as any cost exactly what it is : Party Profiling. Just more proof of what hypocrits Democrats really are.

I missed the show at its regular time so I stayed up for the 3 ayem repeat.
Donahue's such an a$$. Loved it when Miller said "President Bush is MY president."
Dennis Miller - another great native Pittsburgher.

"She claims several Hispanic groups oppose Estrada, and "they have their reasons". She said (paraphrasing) "they know who will fight for Latinos".
Maybe it's just me, but I thought a judge was supposed to apply the law equally, and that "fighting for [Latinos]" was not part of the job description."
Absolutely. She is dumber than a box of rocks.

The Hispanic Congressional Caucus actually refused Republican hispanics membership, but THAT didn't make the news Not surprising, but what "reason" did they give for refusing?

Your #424 is a great point. Man, I'm using that at the watering hole tonight. Thanks.

How did HE get the floor?? I don't know. But, I'll bet it started with...
"The Senator from Minnesota."
Can't see or hear any of this. Firewalled out.
To: PhiKapMom
I have been watching C-SPAN and emailing these buffoons the past 2 days - only getting form letter replies - hard to imagine why cuz I've been real polite - I even asked Senator Durbin what he prefered to be called "Ding Dong" Durbin or "big Dick" Durbin vs that friggin moron from Illinois.
This really is good entertainment - I love dems in meltdown.

Coleman is doing great.
"This is not the Hatfields and the McCoys....the Democrats and the Republicans. This is NOT the OK corral. I wasn't here YESTERDAY...when all this who-did-what-to-whom was happening. This is today. Let the past die with all this who did what to whom......and when"

I don't think there can be a filibuster. A real filibuster. I think this for the following reason.
The Republicans are not going to file a cloture petition or they have said they won't because that would set a bad precedent.
Since they are not filing for cloture, there is no need for the Dems to officially filibuster, stay up all night, talk til they drop etc.
To provoke a filibuster, a real one, cloture has to be filed or at least the floor leader has to try to file it, only to be stopped by the non stop talking of the minority.
Since the Republicans said they won't file for one, but would rather the Dems just agree to a vote without a cloture petition, a real filibuster is not going to happen.
Ugh, the Republicans are such fools.
