Well, mostly it was a back and forth with the guy from The American Way saying he won't answer our questions, and Bryson Gray, saying he shouldn't!
The Dem's were asking opinion's regarding previous Supreme Court opinions!

This is a winless exercise. The forces of evil are ringing the fundraising bell with every speech. This one, by the razor sharp witted Barbara Boxer, is for the Sierra Club!!!
We're not going to 60 votes. Send the Village Idiots home, and maneuver a recess. Bush appoints Estrada, Pickering and every other nominee who might consider killing then ripping a baby from the motherwomb a bad idea.
Then, we deal with adult-level challenges to our lives and nation.

Take a look at this which Norms Revenge just posted:
In a move that could bolster Latino representation on the nation's largest federal appeals court, President George W. Bush today nominated a Latina state appeals court justice to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Consuelo Maria Callahan, who currently serves on the Sacramento-based Third District Court of Appeal, would become the second Latino judge on the 28-member 9th Circuit if she is confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Bush nominated Callahan to fill one of four vacancies on the San Francisco-based appeals court, which interprets law for California and eight other western states.
A native of Palo Alto and a Stanford University graduate, Callahan, 52, has been a state appeals court justice since 1996, when she was named to the court by former Gov. Pete Wilson. Callahan was previously a San Joaquin County Superior Court judge and a longtime prosecutor in Stockton.
The Bush administration is also close to nominating San Francisco Superior Court Judge Carlos Bea to the 9th Circuit, according to Republican lawyers and judges familiar with the process. Bea and Callahan, if eventually confirmed, would join Judge Richard Paez of Los Angeles as the court's Latino members.
The White House has named two other 9th Circuit nominees, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Carolyn Kuhl and Nevada lawyer Jay Bybee, who are currently encountering opposition from Democrats in the Senate. If the Bush appointees are confirmed to the 9th Circuit, they would join a court that is heavily dominated by judges appointed by Democrats and which is widely considered the country's most liberal.

Mo ... am I being too cynical when see this affair becoming an Orren Hatch vogue?
This a pyhrric stand. OK, we're resolute. Let's revert to the boyhoood ploy and say "I give, I give." WHAAACK! KO
To: PhiKapMom
Thanks.
Ironic, No?
It would seem that the demRats seem to think they own certain courts of appeal in this country. They are proud of their own racist heritage and how they manipulate the "ignorant" masses, for their good, of course. ;-)
This is one more blow against the Empire of the Rats.
Keep 'em Coming, President Bush, Keep 'em Coming.

Jackbill just posted this to me on your thread from the Wash Post:
In another development, Bush last night nominated a member of former Whitewater independent counsel Kenneth W. Starr's team to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, based in St. Louis.
The nominee, Steven M. Colloton of Iowa, was a law clerk for Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist. Democrats had wanted Bush to nominate Missouri Supreme Court Judge Ronnie White, a witness for the opposition during Attorney General John D. Ashcroft's confirmation battle.

All I'm saying is that this issue IS NOT going to make Hispanics abandon the Democrtas in droves. You are correct, they won't leave in "droves" .. but enough of them will think differently in the next election that it could very well hurt the Dems

Support Miguel Estrada's Judicial Nomination!
Your help is needed to ensure that a conservative judicial nominee gets a seat on what many have called the nation's second-most important court.
...
TAKE ACTION
So far, liberal groups have managed to convince many people to call senators in opposition to Estrada. Please help generate a flood of calls, letters and e-mails in support of Estrada.
1. Contact your two U.S. senators and urge them to SUPPORT the nomination of Miguel Estrada to the U.S. Appeals Court for the District of Columbia Circuit. To contact your senators, call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121. For help in finding out who your senators are, or to send them an e-mail, please see our Legislative Action Center.
2. The following senators have been identified as possible swing votes that could be persuaded to support Estrada's nomination. Even if they don't represent your state, please call them and urge them to support Estrada:
Sens. Bill Nelson (Fla.); Mary Landrieu (La.); Blanche Lincoln (Ark.); Tom Carper (Del.); Mark Pryor (Ark.); Daniel Inouye (Hawaii); Robert Byrd (W.V.); Jeff Bingaman (N.M.); Evan Bayh (Ind.); Ernest Hollings (S.C.); Jim Jeffords (Vt.) and Joe Biden (Del.)
Talking Points
- The fact that the liberals are willing to filibuster Estrada's nomination means they are willing to stop the Senate from considering every other matter of importance in order to prevent a simple "yes" or "no" vote on Estrada.
- Here's how hypocritical the Democrats opposing Estrada are: The senators leading the filibuster have spoken strongly against filibustering judicial nominations in the past. Here are examples:
Patrick Leahy (Vt.), the senior Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee: "I have stated over and over again ... that I would object and fight against any filibuster on a judge, whether it is somebody I opposed or supported." (Congressional Record, June 18, 1998)
Ted Kennedy (Mass.): Senators who feel strongly about the issue of fairness should vote for cloture, even if they intend to vote against the nomination itself. It is wrong to filibuster this nomination, and Senators who believe in fairness will not let a minority of the Senate deny [the nominee] his vote by the entire Senate." (Congressional Record, June 21, 1995)
Barbara Boxer (Calif.): ["The nominee"] deserves his day. And filibustering this nomination is keeping him from his day." (Congressional Record, June 21, 1995)

Take Estrada everywhere! I can see an El Paso or Tuscon billboard with TV superstar CHIPS hunk "Ponch Armadillo" giving the thumbs up to the Judge-elect and emerting a cartoon talk balloon with ... "Meet the smart Estrada".
To: ArneFufkin
No, not cynical ..
The Repubs need to be careful in the handling of Estrada, but I also believe they shouldn't give up either
