CAN'T YOU JUST picture, about 25 years ago, the parents of a teenage Miguel Estrada telling the Honduran immigrant all that the United States had to offer? ''Mijo, in America, if you study hard and apply yourself, you can achieve great things and realize your dreams. Why, one day important people may talk about you.''

Boston Globe printed this ? Yikes. Must have been one heck of a counter opinion.

FWIW, I was proud of the senate republicans last night. First time.

Can someone help me out here? With this filibuster the Dems are going to bring far more disrepute on themselves in the hispanic population than if they had just let him sail through. On top of which, I doubt that Estrada, who worked in the Reno justice department, is much of a conservative. I don't get it.

The RATS are engaged in the politics of personal destruction in order to please a handful of very narrow special interest groups who provide a reliable supply of legal and illegal votes every other November. It's a strategy they perfected in the mid-90's on any number of issues ranging from the enviornment to medicare.

What's different today is their megaphone (Slick Willy) no longer occupies the White House and their message isn't reaching a large audience. What's also different is the current occupant of the White House has core beliefs and values, and is willing spend political capital to see his agenda for America enacted into law. What MAY be different is the GOP has a Senate Majority Leader who won't cave in to the RATS pathetic tactics.

I don't get it either. From my perspective the Demonrats are committing political suicide. I also believe that this type of stupidity by the rats in the senate can only be traced to Her Royal Highness Hitlery. She is tone deaf to ordinary Americans. This will haunt them for years, and will be a lively topic of discussion 50 years from now, when political scientists are looking for the reason for the demise of the Democratic Party.

Estrada should just come out and say that he's in favor of:

Abortion
High taxes
Big government
Open borders
Affirmative Action
Public schools - No vouchers
Gays in the military
Socialized health care
Lock box Social Security
Banning guns

And then upon confirmation announce he's changed his mind.

Wouldn't that be great! Mr Estrada should espouse the party platform of the DNC in bold print on the floor of the senate for all to see. Let him say he's for killing the unborn, for taking away America's guns, for environmental regulation over free enterprise, for high taxation et al and let the Democrats either embrace him and be made fools or oppose him and be even more foolish.

With all the media coverage I find it extremely peculiar that I haven't heard which specific question was not answered,

Liberal Democrats do NOT want Blacks or Hispanics to become successful on their own. If only the Black and Hispanic populations could see this reality they would no longer support Democrats.

> "With all the media coverage I find it extremely peculiar that I haven't heard which specific question was not answered."

The only questions I've heard from the Democrazies on C-Span2 during their whining diatribe are:

"What Supreme Court justice would you say you most agree with?"

Since they can't find a reason to impune Mr Estrada, they would use this information to impune him by association. For example, if he said he agrees most with Clarence Thomas, get ready for Anita Hill to show up...

"Are you a strict constructionist?"

Mr Estada's answer: "I'm a fair constructionist."

When asked to clarify, he stated that he would apply the law equally to the cases he is asked to decide. A strict approach may limit his ability to weigh circumstances and, in effect, judge. His questioner persisted in trying to get him to say he is a strict constructionist because he plans to support the Constitution and Mr Estrada wouldn't bite on the bait.

He has been asked for privileged writings while working in the Solicitor's General office. He had to refuse as these are privileged not due to his own judgement but due to the wishes of his client, the Justice Dept. He has no authority over that.

There's a lot more to it and you can listen on C-Span but that's a snap shot of some of the basic "non" issues.

We just gotta fight for this guy!

I can't believe this ran in the Boston Globe. Somebody must have snuck it in during a French wine-tasting break.
