Please take a look at my new conservative, pro-pesticide novel at http://www.pinefieldkilling.com. Why do we abandon literature (and farm policy for that matter) to a bunch of liberal Luddites?
TOPICS: Business/Economy

We don't, Mac. I and many other fiction writers espouse conservative points of view in our work. But the Powers that Be in the publishing industry show little welcome to them. Leftist ideas expressed in fiction are regarded as noncontroversial. Conservative ideas expressed in fiction are considered "unjustifiably polemic" and "dangerously controversial."
Best of luck from a colleague.

Thanks, Francis. I know all about the NY publishing gauntlet. Though I had a great agent who had once been a senior editor for HarperCollins and Vintage Press (and a liberal herself BTW), still none of the editor's she approached bought it. Many said they "loved" the story but said they just didn't see how they could market it.
Guess none of them ever heard of the "red counties."
